Okay latest development with Achilles is that one of the playstation games cases, he has taken a shine to it and when either of us goes near it he growls and continues to growls for quite some time afterwards and rarely ever leaves it. He has soooo many toys yet he chooses the games case. Has anybody else had anh similar experiences with possessiveness. And any ideas why. Hes still as loving and affectionate as ever, just wont let anybody near that damn case! Thoughts please! X

sounds like he is testing the water to me to see if he can get away with it.I wouldnt let him, I would take it
from hin you might get smacked but its at least teaching him he cant display that behavior! I dont really know if that logic works on cats but that is what I have done with dogs if they display aggressive behavior towards a toy food whatever it may be . Maybe someone with more cat behvior knowledge can let you know , but I would either keep it from him or take it when he has a fit!

The problem is, I took it from him, and believe me I knew about it! mega deep scratches up my arms (I only trimmed his claws the other week!! How fast they grow!) put it away, as well as put it in a cupboard. I go up for a bath and come downsairs after and low and behold, he has SOMEHOW managed to get the cupboard door open (suspect he just swiped at it a few times until it was open enough to get in there, learnt from his "brothers" no doubt lol!). Look around for him and he's sitting there, on the carpet, cute and as innocent looking as ever licking the box and purring. I've taken it off him again (more scratches. Still love him to bits, so adorable). He just seems to love it too much. My other boys did the same with their toys...which is fine. I just wondered why he chose the playstation game box, and whether anybody elses babies had developed a love for any odd objects.

To be honest, cats play hunt... that's what they do. They hunt something, it is their prize and they will defend their prize. It is normal behaviour. I wouldn't take it off him as he is just learning. Does it do any harm?? My cats like different things, Toby loves feathery toys and used to growl and guard his 'prize' from anyone who would try and take it off him. He did it with a piece of chicken wing the other night.... Grrrrrr... Grrrrrrr... even a little Hiiissssssss   It is even funnier when 6 week old kittens do it!

Oh no! It does no harm at all! I was just concerned as he does not seem at all bothered by any of the toys we have bought for him, and believe me we have a house full of them, all different types. Its just that game box! Bless his little heart! Thanks :) It is quite amusing though as he is still very small, he is trying to pick it up in his mouth and walk around with it...no luck there just yet!
