LOL all those funny stories about christmas trees!!!
But it's a good thread idea, cause I was really worried last year when it was my 1st christmas with my 2 kitties. It will surely help others!!

I didn't had any major problem (except the one time Salem tried to be Spiderman, I let you guess the rest  ), it's just really important to avoid small decorations and tinsel garnments that can be swallowed! And make sure to cut access to the (often stagnant) water if you are having a natural tree. My girls always wanted to drink it, so I put a cover over the small tank.

I'll let you know how it goes this year! Lilith will be arriving home really shortly after we decorate our place, we call her ''our Christmas baby''. With 3 cats, I'm pretty sure my place will just look like in The Gremlins movie... I'll make sure not to feed them after midnight LOL

Will post pics too!
Bye,
Sysh

PS: Oh and btw, my boyfriend agreed to dress as Santa to give the girls their presents! LOL More pics here to come!

We've been in discussion about this in our house, last year Chester pulled the tree over and he also liked to pull random bulbs out so they'd all go out

Not that this will happen this year :(

but who knows how Oska and Harvery are going to react

We have decided that we'll have a nice tree in the front room and they're only allowed in there when we're in there.

And so they can have a bit of fun we are going to get another one that they can play with

Nay

For those asking about "Norman Rockwell" balls---He was an American artist that painted many "down home" and folky artwork. He used common town people and places in his pictures. When I look at one of his paintings, I am reminded of America when it was more gentle and neighbors were close friends, etc. Through the years, collectable (with artwork) Christmas ornaments were released, numbered and more expensive than the regular "balls" that we can buy at chain stores. My sister put a lot of $$$ into this collection and when her dogs broke the majority of it she was heart-broken. Hope this clarifies things a bit--maybe a "Bengal Buddy" from the Mid-West or New England states can give more insight as Mr. Rockwell featured those parts of the U.S. rather than the West where I grew up and still live.

I put my tree up today. Olly is still sleeping so he has not seen it yet. We will see what happens when he wakes up. I guess I should take a before photo right now, before he wakes up.

I'm not even going to consider Christmas decorations with my three around. It's bad enough keeping basics like kitchen utensils in their proper place without adding temptations like a Christmas tree.

We still have yet to put our tree up, but I look forward to pictures from all of you! Should be interesting....I guarentee within the first hour we put our tree up, it will either be fallen over or all of the ornaments will be missing.

I posted some pics in the picture thread of Sammie eating the tree. I have lights on it now and a few plastic decorations way up high.... except on the bottom two rows of branches, which are the ones she's insisting on playing with. The tree looks rather sad and naked... I will work on putting more ornaments on it (problem is a lot of mine are that thin glass stuff) and some garland. Luckily Sammie is smart enough not to try to climb the tree.

We've now got a 6 ft fibre optic tree - no glass baubles to break, no electric lights to come crashing to the floor - put it up, plug it in and away ya go.

HA,HA

I will have to put an edible Christmas tree up and decorate it with edible toys!

We always go to Neil’s parents for Christmas week and this year I think will be breaking point.
We are already worried about their behaviour, because not only that we are expecting to find the Christmas tree on the floor with all decorations scattered around, but they have lots of plants around the house too.
Mau & Benga play all night and they are so mischievous.
When we stay up late, they start looking at their wrist watches thinking it’s time for us to go to bed.
Than we hear such a weird noises from downstairs, thinking we have 50 horses running across the living room.

God knows how we are going to control them.
But one thing is obvious; we won’t be aloud next Christmas.
