Winston, my 8 year old seal-lynx-point spotted boy, didn’t make it through his surgery yesterday.

Last week he stopped eating, and the vet found that he had a mass in his abdomen. They did exploratory surgery yesterday and discovered that he had a tumor that involved his stomach, the upper part of his small intestine (including the pyloric sphincter) and the duct from the pancreas. He couldn’t eat because the tumor was blocking the food, and if they removed the tumor, he wouldn’t be able to digest food, so we opted to not wake him up from the surgery. The vet doesn’t think that the tumor was even malignant (I don’t know if they’re going to do a biopsy)—it was where it was located that was the problem, not what it was.

It was an easy decision—there really wasn’t much of a decision to make, obviously—but man, did it SUCK!

I am, obviously, heartbroken. He was my first bengal and I have never known a sweeter, sillier, more personality-laden cat in my life (except possibly my other Bengal, Cinnamon). I’m going to miss my little clown prince. I know that you guys know what it means

as you say there was no decision to be made, but doesn't make it any easier to deal with the loss.
he's at rainbow bridge now & in no more discomfort at least.

There are many of us here who understand what you are going through. Winston is now playing over the Rainbow Bridge with my beloved Horus and all the other furfriends whose lives were sadly cut short.
My thoughts are with you right now - be free Winston, you're no more in pain xxx

Sadly a couple of days ago my friend lost her siamese boy aged 17 - they are both playing over rainbow bridge now.
