Is my kitty Leonidas a bengal mix?
I don't think he is purebred, but he seems to fit many of the qualities of a bengal cat. We got him yesterday from the humane society- he was a stray. He is about 2 months old and around 3 lbs.

I suppose he could have some Bengal in him, but he looks mostly like a regular tabby to me. I think it's fairly unusual that an entire Bengal would be roaming the streets mothering/fathering half breed litters. There are some other recent threads on this topic that you may find interesting.

Yeh, I thought about that.. I live in Hawaii and somebody would have had to have brought some bengals here and then lost them.. its a pain to get animals onto the island bc of the quarantine laws.
He's settling in great! he's extremely curious and playful and we adopted him only 3 days after the humane society picked him up as a stray- but his personality is amazing. he just purrs and loves on you all the time. he also climbs everything and likes to sleep in the window glass slots (in the pic). hes awesome!! I wish he were part bengal though. Bengal cats sound so awesome

I thought I had read that Bengals weren't even legal in Hawaii? I could be mistaken though, I'm in Australia. Anyway, I'm a big believer in taking a cat on its individual merits, rather than by breed.

I got Bengals because they had a predisposition to the type of personality I wanted. I admit, I love their looks, but I would have happily got moggies if there had been any at the shelter with good personalities (there weren't).

So enjoy your little Leonidas - glad to hear he's settling in so well.

He may not be a Bengal, but LOVE the picture of him sleeping in the glass slats!
