I bought my 2 Bengals as Pets and don't intend to show them but looking on the forum at all the lovely photos of peoples Bengals I am starting to wonder if mine have poor markings. Moshi has spots but they don't look like rosettes:




Indy seems to have a mixture of spots and smudges:



Am I right in thinking Moshi would be called a Brown Spotted Bengal? What would Indy be?

Sorry I know this is such a dumb question but I am totally new to Bengals.

your moshi is indeed a brown spotted, & indy is a snow spotted, this should be recorded on your registration documents for you.
if indy has blue eyes, he is a blue-eyed snow spotted, if his eyes are green, yellow or brown he is a AOC snow-spotted (AOC stands for any other colour eye).
they're markings are both lovely...rosettes are desired but not essential. the main thing is to have random spotting in a horizontal flow rather than vertical, which they both have. indy's spots are a little more blotchy because they are larger & in some cats it's these larger spots which sometimes open up into rosettes...but less often in the snows.

We still don't have registration documents as the breeder tells me that he is still waiting for them I am worried as I am starting to think I'll never receive them.

it's very hard to say, but from those piccies i can't see any fault.
your best way of finding out would b 2 book them in2 a show in the neuter class & see how they do lol...only the judge would know for sure & give u a better idea, as your breeder sounds quite inexperienced.
they both have lovely short, shiny coats & the ears don't look too long (this is a problem with a lot of bengals atm, ears should b short - medium in length).
but you would need their registration documents 2 b able 2 show them.

Rosettes aren't required for showing, the standard is more on the shape of the head, the shape and size of the ears, the shape of the eyes, the tail lenght and thickness...

So if they're "perfect" for that yes they would be show quality , even if they don't have rosettes.

Personally I was more interested in rosettes than in head shape and so on and I didn't intend to show him so those didn't really matter . But I know that Chaos is a least breeder quality (perhaps not show, he's got too big ears and a long skinny tail), I only got him as a pet because of his heart murmur...

You have also to consider temperament when taking cats to shows. At the GCCF, you will leave them alone in the pen for about 2-3 hours and they will be assessed by the judge and handled by stewards, out of your sight completely for that time.

At TICA you will need to be able to carry them in your arms through loads of people on your way to the ring, then leave them in a cage and the judge will then remove them from the cage and handle them, you will then pick up your cat and put it back to its original pen. This happens at least four times in the day as you visit each judge's ring.

Do they like strange people, loud noises, do they like being carried? Are they basically bomb proof. Are they used to being confined in a cage/pen?

Thanks everyone for all the info it's a lot to learn and take in. I don't intend on showing Moshi or Indy I was just curious as I was sold them as Pets and paid £450 for Moshi then because the Breeders split up and they wanted to get rid of the rest of the Litter we paid £150 for Indy. I wonder if the price represented the fact that maybe they aren't show quality?

The price depends on that usually... pets are cheeper than breeder/show ! (and that's a bit "normal").
In France a breeder/show is around 2000€, a pet is aroud 1000€...
