Well, so my bundles of naughtiness have been with us for over a week and how did I ever get by without them!

They are so very very crazy!

However, some of the craziness has got to stop! They are only just 5 months old and weighed in at the vets at 7lb's and I can not have 2 of them climbing my curtains, they'll pull the pole off the wall when they get a bit bigger!

Will water pistols actually work, or would you suggest the can full of coins? Clapping loudly at them worked for about 24 hours...but now they just ignore it!

And does anyone elses cats empty their water bowl all over the floor, it's like a game to them, but we are out at work all day and I wouldn't want them to go thirsty.

We don't get a lot of time on the PC's anymore either (though they are some great distractions!) due to the chasing the tapping of keys and the movement of the mouse cable being really great games.

Anyway, I was just wondering 1, what the average size peoples cats are at this age as this bad pair still have a lot of growing to do and 2, what are your cats favorite things to play with from around the house? Our 2 will take a cheap plastic bag of the really noisy type over anything else!

They don't sit down very often, I have a lot of blurry photo's indeed, need a better camera!

beautiful babies! they have lovely markings...are they for show/breeding or just very special pets?
the carrier bag is popular yes lol, i find mine get used to avoiding the computer after being hastily put down on the floor every time they jump up, they soon get bored.
they also seemed to stop climbing curtains after a short while, again being put down each time they tried, also water sprays...i find most times i just need to pick the bottle up & they know what it is & run!
i have trouble though as i have sash windows, & they jump up to sit on the centre bar & ther net curtains take a beating in the process! lil devils

Crazy, Mad, Insane....they wouldn't qualify as a bengal otherwise!

Water pistols do work on some cats, but for the "no fear" kinda bengal I'm afraid it'd just be futile and pointless......we have a girl that will just squint back at you right through the jet of water thats being squirted!

I'd try the water pistol anyways, you might be lucky....but more than likely they'll just stealth it whilst your in bed or out at work.

If they want something that you don't want them to have, they'll plan and scheme for it even if it takes weeks.....I've seen it done many times!

Last crime around here was the LCD screen of my camera (paid £600 new for it a few years ago), they smashed it somehow.....I don't know for sure which one was the guilty party, but I know a bengal was behind the crime make no mistake!

My best advice would be to draw their attention away from it by method of play, especially whilst you're not around, try leaving little things lying around for them to find/hunt when they're alone.

Also on another note - I have the exact same keyboard and mouse, also I got a Thermaltake Tsunami just to keep things matching in true cheesey fashion.....you a bit of a gamer?

Olly is 6 months and is about 8lbs. So that sounds about right..

Water guns don't work for me... Maybe you will be lucky. You should try it like meemonkey said. It just might work for you.

Olly has been trying to go outside on his own for weeks. I have every window closed and every door locked (Olly opens doors, if they are unlocked) before I go to work or anywhere and he will still find a way out. I came home today and Olly was playing in the yard. I have no clue on how he got out. I made sure he was in and everything was shut. I even walked around the house and made sure all the windows where closed and doors where still locked.. I'm lost... lol..

I could get Mikesch to stop going up the curtains by temporarily replacing the curtain rods with the type that has a spring inside and clamps into the window frame (like shower curtain rods). What happened was that it came down on him every time he tried to climb up, so he learned it was a bad idea to do that and stopped. The good thing about this method is that it works while you're out of the house. Instead, he's using the vertical blinds as kitty ladders now, so I had to remove those in his favorite rooms as he was well on his way to completely destroying them.

And yes, emptying the water bowl all over the floor is a very popular game. I ended up buying big, heavy ceramic water bowls sold for large dogs so he can't tip them over, but he'll scoop the water out with his paws until everything is wet.

I have found that the key to Bengal proofing a house without sacrificing normal furnishings is to give them something better to play with. They ruin things because instinctively it's all they have to quench their playfulness.

Climbing wise build them a carpet tree to the celling, the more the merrier and connect them with a walk way towards the ceiling. [These take little space]

Scratching wise I wrap plywood with twine and a little glue and make 2 foot long scratch pads. I hang these on various door knobs around the house, I have between 5 and 10 of these things at one time and they shred them up.

Between my cat wheel, cat run, cat condo, hanging ropes etc.. I'm able to keep leather furniture, nice curtains, cloth speaker faces in tact with out them climbing on them and scratching them because they have something better to work with.

A tired and busy Bengal is a happy Bengal so wear them out before they wear you and your home out...

A tip i read recently to stop naughty behaviour?

Make a loud noise, be it clapping, jar of coins, or similar, but don't let the cat know that it was you who made the noise. Or they will just associate that noise with you and will learn to ignore it. Or they'll simply carry on the naughty behaviour when you're not looking, or not around.

I tried it on my cat Horus when he was being mischievous and it worked a treat because he couldn't figure where the noise was coming from.
He learnt to associate naughty things with a loud noise and it seemed to work as a discipline method, although, sadly, i don't have the rascal anymore.
