I'm living in Poland and I went for a visit to the bengal cat breeder in Radom to select a cat, and I made a video record of our visit, which is something I have put up on the internet to share with people who know about Bengal cats and get their advice.

What we did was, we went down there expecting to get the Professor, which is a year-old castrated tom, but on due reflection, we booked this brown marbled kitten which will be ready this time next week. We signed a contract and asked to have him registered with Tica and the 3 generation pedigree certificate drawn up, with the name Pushkin for him. You can see this kitten mainly closer to the end of the film. There is only one marbled kitten, the other kitten is spotted, and we were in two minds which to take, but we marginally plummed for the marble one.
I will go down next week with the transport cage I have bought and get him. I would be glad of any pointers anyone has.
We need a cat with a kind temperament, but it needs to be big enough to stand its ground and not be too fragile, as we have two autistoc children, pplus the eldest girl shown who is also a high energy kid. The younger two are not mean in any way but could be unaware of their strength, which is why we needed something that will become a strong cat, but at the same time we needed a kindly cat, that will not use its strength to hurt an autistic child who unwittingly disturbs it. The companionship of animals is supposed to help autostic children a lot, but I wanted to animal to be vocal, and what put me off the Professor was too things, firstly I thought he might already have formed a deep domestic attachment to the cattery (they even said he was the favorite of their teenage son) and want to go back there and try to escape because of that, and the other was that the cat seems virtually mute. Pushkin, on the other hand, did the most mewing, and therefore I thought that he would be the best cat for our family.
I am open to all thoughts and advice, because I have not kept a bengal cat before. When I was in my teens my family has a black and white persian, and there was once or twice in my teenage years I felt it was the only friend I had, but that was a tiny, timid cat, and it would be too fragile to cope with the kids we have.
We have to take a lot of care over Pushkin and not let them throng him too much until he reaches the kind of weight levels the dealer has promised, but then I am hoping he will be able to look after his own rights with the younger two.
The dealer did not seem to think that the kitten would be overly bothered by three kids, two of them with developmental disorders, and I hope that that is the case. She seems to be someone with a genuine concern for the welfare of the cats she sends out into the world.
Any thoughts you have from the video on the quality of cats on offer, and whether the price tag I was asked to pay of 500 EUR seems about fair to you, would be most welcome to me.
