how to take a bengal out for walk?

Hello,

I have a young bengal girl named Leelo. She's an indoor cat most of the time but i also take her outside on a leash. The leash i connect to a rope that goes through my garden and thats how she enjoys the outside almost freely.
She really is fine with that and it goes well.
Since i only let her out when im there aswell i also sometimes walk her on a short leash around the garden. Sometimes its going great, like walking a dog only a bit slower and a bit more sniffing around

however sometimes is just not working at all.
Lately it went really well so i tried to go a bit further then the garden. The first few meters went well but soon she got scared and wanted to run away.
Also even in the garden she can get really scared from a dog, cat or person walking by while another time she wont at all. Since thats in the "known" garden i have no idea how to do that beyond the garden.
I never had dogs and have no experiance with walking a pet but i would like to give it a try now that she is still young.
How did you train to walk your Bengal, and what do you do when something goes wrong or he/she gets scared of a dog etc?
Hope you have some tips!

I already learned that picking her up is not the best idea. One time when she got scared of a dog i picked her up.. well my arms looked like i tried to cut my own wrist, ouch!
Ive been thinking, perhaps i should drive to a really quiet place and start trying there first.

IMO taking cats out for a walk is CRAZY!!! As I say, that's just my opinion...IMO cats are either indoor or outdoor animals... Each to their own though...

Exposing them to what?? a dog? well dogs are on leads unless in designated dog parks nowadays which we dont go too, we see dogs on leads all the time, my cats are not bothered by dogs, its usually me pulling my cats back from stalking the dogs..

Not seen a dog on a lead in about 8 years. I guess we're talking City/country divide here

i dont live in a city, but if we do see dogs off leads then the owner is somewhere nearby and will put the lead on if they see me with my cats, but as i said my cats are not really afraid of dogs anyway..

Isnt letting cats out alone exposing them to roads, cars, poisons, people all sorts of dangers, since joining this forum i have read of so many outdoor bengals hit and killed by cars.... and many of them lived out in the country and very rural

Well i live proper in the country. I've found Chickens in my kitchen, sheep in my garden and a Bull outside the front door...but no, there is no risk of cars/poisons or humans.... this is where i live

oh and for the record - my so called out-door cat doesn't like out....
