* Antihistamine tablets or syrup (eg loratadine, cetirizine, chlorphenamine). These lessen the allergic reaction by blocking the actions of histamine. They relieve hayfever type symptoms.
* Nasal sprays or drops containing sodium cromoglicate, corticosteroids (eg beclometasone) or antihistamines (eg levocabastine) can be used to reduce nasal inflammation and control symptoms in the nose.
* Eye drops containing sodium cromoglicate, nedocromil, or antihistamines (eg azelastine) reduce eye inflammation and can be used if eye symptoms are a particular problem.


Dogs and cats should be bathed at least once a month in plain water. Remember to dry the animals properly afterwards. It has been proved that a monthly 'cat wash' lowers the level of allergens in the house.

I am confused, are these pics, more advertising in your quest to rehome them or are they sent to say that they are a part of your family and that they are staying?

My friend had great success with Petal Cleanse. Have you tried it?

You spray it on a cloth and then wipe the cats with it, it's thought that most allergies are actually something in the cat's saliva rather than the hair and Petal Cleanse can really help.

Also lots and lots of hoovering and tyr using a rubber hair remover on sofas and soft furnishings as the hair tends to hook in on these places and isn't easily hoovered off.

Strangely I'm fine with Bengals, yet I've been playing with the Maine Coon somewhere else too much and I'm all sniffly sneezy!

I am allergic to most dogs and cats and bought my Bengals because they are low allergen. I only get a mild reaction to them. I take Alereeze nasal spray.

This is the worst time of year for allergies as your cats are probably moulting their winter coat. My OH is very allergic to cats but can tolerate our bengal, though I think he is suffering more than usual at the moment.

Maybe together with all the other allergy advice on here you could also persuade your partner to give it a few more months until the seasonal shedding stops??

I hope you can work something out, you have two very beautiful cats (and son!)

It sounds like you're feeling much more optimistic about your situation than the last time you posted. That's wonderful!!! Hopefully with a little luck and time, your WHOLE family can learn to be happy and healthy together!

I'm so glad that you son seems happy with the new arrangement, too. I'm sure his life will be brightened by having a positive father figure to rely on!
