I think people see it as an easy out option, a quick fix rather then working on their pets behavioral issues over time with love and patience. Scratching furniture/people- just declaw, too hard to look after/live with, take to the animal shelter. I guess the type of person who would declaw an animal is a quitter who would just give up and get rid of an animal without really trying to care for the animal. Also, they might just see owning a bengal as a status symbol, I have a mini leopard, must be dangerous, must declaw. Lack of education too maybe....?

I am not forgiving them though!! JERKS!!

It doesn't help that a lot of vets here will often ask if you want your cat declawed while it is being desexed. A fair amount of people think of it as such a routine procedure that is expected when you have a cat. Ridiculous.

In my case, my cats aren't allowed outdoors simply because it really isn't safe at all. Too many cars and major roads very close by, and neighbors with very large dogs. :/

Honestly, there are also a lot of people out there who would think "ooo, tiger kitty!" and steal a bengal.
