Right then,

I've just got off the phone with a really helpfull lady at the Zoo, basically there is a Tiger and Llon & feed 3 times a week including saturdays this includes a talk on both types of Big Cats.

I"m going to ring the marketing team up on monday to discuss it further & see if I can get the head of the carnivore sections contact details to talk about this in a bit more detail.

OOh.. sounds fab jimbob..
Im extremely interested in the diet of cats..
Ive not long moved mine back onto raw..
tell you what... my family and I are convinced the cats seem healthier - livelier- and their stools are not smelly anymore..
not a loose poo in sight..
they absolutely love their food.. and clear their plates in a nano second..

so it will be interesting to see what the 'big' cats eat..

The big cats are beautiful. The new Jaguar house is great - they are all very elusive though and find their own little hiding places to get away from you.

Did anyone see the zoo days programme on Channel 5 last year? It was set in Chester Zoo. The lion cub which was rejected by its mother and being hand rearered was in it's own enclosure that you were able to see. So adourable.

Feeting time at the big cat enclosures are the busiest of any during the day - so we must be prepared to wait around to get the best views

zoo days was colchester zoo in essex...i was there one day & they were filming the tigers for the second series...i'll probably be in the background with a huge grin on my face lol! i got to chat to the cat keeper, kelly i think her name was. she was really lovely & we were talking about the similarities & differences of being a cat breeder & being a big cat keeper.

it wasn't long after they'd just lost tiger cubs & i could really relate to how she felt.

i haven't been to chester zoo since they built the jaguar enclosure but would love to make it.

Jim, that sounds good, obviously a Saturday would be busier than any week day. Let us know dates asap, so we can plan days off work, petrol costs, and overnight stay...you didnt think i would drive 4 hours there then 4 hours back....hehehe I am going to make a meal out of it...shhh dont tell Stu..

whilst I wait for a response from the head of section at the Zoo, I've thought of the following.

Would anyone be interested in making a whole day/ night of it .. I mean simply book a nearby hotel & a few of us go out to dinner ?
