Oh, he's still there, getting fat on the apples that fall off the tree. I built my cats a small outdoors enclosure, so they can get almost face to face with him now. He's very brazen and will sit just a couple of feet away from them to munch on his apples, knowing full well that they can stare but not go after him. Or he'll sit in the entrance to his burrow under the shed and stare back at them. I think he's just having too much fun teasing them, but he will run and hide whenever I try to catch him on camera.
