Hi everyone
So I got my new bengal kitten he is gorgeous. I've only had him for three days but I'm finding I'm feeling a little stressed and anxious, like when he meows I feel like I'm no good because I don't know what he wants. He gets so hectic sometimes and I play with him alot but again I feel like I'm not doing enough ☹️ we are currently locking him in the spare room when we go to bed and when we leave the house just until he is properly litter trained. I feel terrible when I put him in there I just don't know what to do. I love him and am not going to give up on him but just feeling so stressed and anxious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your baby. First of all, calm down. First-time mothers have the same anxiety and stress with a human baby -- and that is only natural. A new kitten may meow because it is missing mom and brothers and sisters. You are putting him in a safe room (hopefully with food, water and a litter box) which allows him to decompress while getting used to a new environment. Know, he is smelling new smells, hearing new voices. You simply have to give him time to settle in. Spend as much time as you can just softly talking or reading to him. Play with him. In another couple of weeks, he will be a completely different kitten and you will be almost stress free. Do as much research as you can on a bengal. Yours will lead you on many adventures. Hopefully, you have bengal proofed your home as they can and will get into every nook and cranny they can.

You didn't say, but hopefully, he is at least 12 weeks old and the breeder helped socialize him.

Know this forum has wonderful members who give the best advice, so we are here to answer any questions you have.In the mean time, take deep breaths and know that you are doing all the right things and all will work out. You just need patience and time.

Brian, you forgot to mention you have three cats! They are in your signature, but not sure the poster would have noticed that. LOL I'm guessing the member would be stressing out over dealing with two kittens. We know bengals are not for the faint of heart and they are more vocal, social, have more energy than your normal cats. I'm hoping the original poster will come back and let us know how things are going and whether she's settled down any.

It's easy recommend another cat, but in this case, I'd be hesitant until the stress level is down for the owner and the kitten.

I'll add a vote to getting two kittens instead of one. I don't think that I would be able to keep up with the energy requirements if I had just gotten one! I can tell that the energy of my kittens (5 1/2 months) is starting to ramp up, as their current favorite past-time is chasing each other around the house at full-speed. They enjoy playing when I break out the wand toys, but they aren't desperate for it. And I'm so thankful for that!

Also, Ghost tends to cry if he is alone in a room. But either I or the other cats fills the need for company - so he doesn't cry that much anymore. If it was just me, he'd probably be crying a lot (he doesn't seem to realize that he can just walk into another room, silly cat ).

It is just easier when you have two kittens from the same litter where the smell is the same and they were already buddies. However, the younger the kittens, the easier it appears to be to introduce them and get them loving each other as buddies. They become bonded to each other and not so much to the human, which is maybe what this member needs. We will just have to wait and see if she returns and updates us on how things are progressing. However, it is possible the member doesn't have the funds for another bengal and her breeder may not have any available until an upcoming litter.

It's great when new bengal owners find this forum to post questions and ask for advice. Each member here will have a different opinion -- and they aren't wrong. Different things work for different people and bengals. We don't know the environmental situations for any cats but our own. Thus, opinions are so welcome and needed, even if we all don't completely agree.
