outdoor cat tree curiosity

Well I finally got Blondie to use the outdoor cat tree by putting treats on the various levels. Now she keeps going on it and watching me from outside as my living room chair is right behind the door. Grace says no way, she doesn't trust it yet. I guess Blondie has claimed the outdoor cat tree for her own.

Some times it takes a while for a cat to get used to something new, but most are usually quite curious from the beginning. Happy to see that Blondie has accepted it!

That's cool. To me the design of that tree just seems so flawed. Rectangular edges making it impossible to climb, flat, small uncomfortable perches to sit on (even in the picture she doesn't look comfortable up there). I love the idea of an outdoor wooden tree that will stand up to the elements, but I think they really didn't think through the design on that one... :rolleyes:

Glad she can at least be bribed into going on it now though :lol:

Brian you crack me up! Yes, it's true she had to be bribed to go on it. Now she does it hoping a treat materializes. The shelves are on the small side. I think that is why Grace refuses to go up on it even when treats are there. Blondie flies up over Grace's head to get all the treats and stands on the top with her chest puffed out looking out to the horizon. As long as one of them uses it! Maybe if I position it out at the edge of the patio by the lake they will enjoy it more? Right now it is rainy season and blondie seems to like its current location so she can keep a close eye on me inside.

There are so many options when it comes to outdoor cat trees, however, you are limited with the type of wood you can use -- and I think having any type of carpet on the platforms can bring in a mold situation. I know you have a lot of cat trees and catification done in your home, Jill, so I wouldn't be too worried. Did you ever replace your patio furniture?
