Hi I am new, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sue and I live in Bedfordshire. I am looking for a kitten to share my space with, and keep me on my toes. I would love to have two but I will have to wait for the second one (not too long I hope).

I could really do with some advice, there are so many rip off artists out there. What are the main do's and don'ts, and how do I know if the kitten is really show quality? help pleeeseeee

So are you planning to actually show your kitten? If not, then there's (so far as I know) absolutely no reason not to get a "pet" quality cat, unless you feel strongly about having one with a perfect bengal appearance. You still want to use a genuine breeder, of course, but buying a show quality cat will definitely cost you more. Some of the breeders on here will be able to tell you more, of course.

My advice is, look at how the kitten behaves when you first go to meet it. My kitten was living in a house along with small children, and it seemed completely unfazed. That gave me confidence that it would handle my relatively quieter home perfectly well. Try to meet the parents if you can, since that will give you an idea of what it'll look and behave like when it's older.

I can recommend one breeder in London, Barbary Bengals. But I don't think any of their queens will be in kitten for a while yet (they just had kittens recently).

Take your time as ther is heaps of great info here. not only about your furlings but also about diet.. entertaining them etc etc ...

The best piece of advice I can give you is not to rush....

Thank you for your advice, I will do more investigation. I am not sure about showing, I like the idea but....I worry about the stress on the cat and the owner come to think of it. I will keep on looking and of course investigating, but I am getting really impatient, my husband says I am obsessed!
