Hi everyone, I work for an airline and we have a company forum - this message was posted and I thought someone may be able to help if I reposted it here. If anyone would like further details on who to contact, please PM me x

Here is the message...

"Hiya

If anyone is considering getting a pet cat, may I make a couple of suggestions of animals needing homes?

First one is a 14-year old Tortie female (neutered) who was owned by an old lady who needed to enter sheltered accommodation. A friend is looking after the cat at the moment, but the son / grandson has said that he is going to put the cat down, since it can't go with the old lady and he won't take it. The cat has never been socialised with other cats or dogs and so isn't very friendly towards them, but loves human contact! Person presently looking after cat has dogs and cats and is trying to socialise them, but it's not a long term solution (about 2 weeks!)

Second is a 9-year old ginger and white male cat whose owner has gone abroad and was unable / unwilling to take him with him. Cat's name is Timothy and he is very chilled out and very affectionate. Lovely cat and just needs a new home through no fault of his own."

I really hope someone can help - even if anyone has a friend who could take one or both cats on, I cant bear the thought of them being put to sleep for no good reason. Im doing all I can too to get them homes but don't really know anyone who could take them on. I think they're in the Leeds area.

Here is the latest update from my work forum:

Cat update:

Have rung around a number of cat rescue centres to see if they can take the older cat, whose name is Spooky. Many just don't take older cats, but all are full especially since most limit the number of older cats they take in. They are more difficult to rehome and just end up living in the cattery until they die, even though cats can live till mid-teens even early 20s! People just don't want an older animal.

Please, please if you know anyone who might be able to take this cat in, ask them if they would. Spooky is on a waiting list for Howarth Cat Rescue, but it could be a few months before they have room, so even if she can find somewhere for a few months it would help. I can't take her because we only got our cat a month ago and she is still settling in. Plus our cat is an indoor cat (she's deaf) and Spooky is an indoor/outdoor cat.

Any help would be appreciated! :)
