Hi everyone. Some may have seen me asking about where to get a silver Bengal in the UK. I'm not sure if I am putting this post in the right category, but I'm a little confused. Could someone please explain what a silver snow Bengal is please? Compared to a standard silver. Anyone who owns one with pictures they could share that would be very helpful. I was wondering how the 2 differ in appearance, Google hasn't been very helpful with this one. What is a silver snow exactly? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

A silver snow bengal looks like a snow bengal, it's white with light tan markings. Whereas a silver bengal is silver with black markings. Silver snows are very pretty and usually have a clear background color but other than that there isn't a huge difference between a regular snow and silver snow. It's really all down to genetics. If a snow bengal is breed to a silver bengal and the offspring get the silver gene they will be silver snows if they do not get the silver gene they will be regular snows.

They aren't just snows when they are silver snows they are genetically silver, they just have the snow gene instead of brown. Genetically speaking silver isn't a color but rather a masking of color. A silver from brown lines will be silver and have what is called tarnish, which is the underlying brown pigment coming through the silver. Silver snows will not have the yellowing (tarnish) because they aren't brown. To me this litter (I'm not an expert) looks like brown and silver. The kitten on the far left is a silver not a silver snow. The marble may be a silver it's hard to tell and the others are brown rosetted. If the markings are grey to black they are silver. From my understanding a silver snow has brown tan markings but the markings are usually not as contrasted as they are in "regular" snows.

I hope that makes sense and someone ease correct me if I am wrong. Genetics are very interesting but some what hard to understand

If you look esp around his nose bridge, backs of ears and markings they are silver/grey. With a regular snow the points as they are called will be a warmer colour. When a regular snow gets older the points will go darker, normally a tan colour. Where as a silver snow they will have a lot less warmth.
Often the body markings are slightly more muted on a silver snow as it is masking the beige colour that is normally expressed in a regular snow.

To have a silver whether it is Silver (black) or Silver snow, Silver Blue, Silver Charcoal etc lol one parent must be Silver.
