That's odd, it opens right up for me, here is a snapshot.

This is the same type of bylaw passed this summer in Utah County, Utah. Pet stores can only adopt out shelter pets in affiliation with a local shelter. "Certified" breeders may sell pedigree animals. Not sure what "certified" means in the law's eyes however.

I am on the fence about such a law. It will not stop home breeders from selling their kittens or pups. I think this law is largely unenforceable.

I guess it's big business in Boca Raton. I see puppy stores around town and a visit to my vet is like going to the AKC dog show. This was the first attempt I have seen to de-commercialize pet breeding.

Ugh, why didn't I just continue reading on down the page. I went and got my iPad and found the article! Sunrise, Florida has had this same ordinance. I don't know if it's good or bad. The puppy mills are not going to go out of business. They will simply find another way to sell the pets.

Tennessee just passed the first registry of people convicted of animal cruelty -- along the lines of the sex registry. Probably won't take effect until January 1, but there are so many instances of animal cruelty that even the federal government has increased the penalty to be the same as cruelty to humans. I feel as if the animals are finally getting some rights.

The other day Metro Animal Control here in Nashville released a 27% euthanasia rate now that they are willing to work with rescue groups, fosters, and having these weekends where the adoption fee is waived and most of those are animals that are considered unadoptable! I guess someone new was appointed to run the place and decided that an 84% euthanasia rate was simply too high!
