Huge Unpredictable Ape: I dunno... it's still training through negative reinforcement, and the fear and confusion and all that will still be present, the only difference I can see is that it might not be associated with the human but with the environment itself. Doesn't seem like much of an improvement to me... Would the writer like it if he was trained by a series of booby-traps going off on him constantly?

I think the point was to make changes to the environment and use positive reinforcement, as opposed to negative reinforcement only, which is how most people operate regarding unwanted cat behavior.

The ape comment made me laugh because I thought of my husband yelling and stomping around when Yoshi was a kitten and would attack his feet and toes when he wasn't paying attention. The little brat sliced the skin between his toes more times than I can count. He never touched my feet thoigh...

I'm going to try the tin foil on the counter top. The squirt gun is not working. I bet they just play with the tin foil though.

Basically, these things are things jackson Galaxy has been saying for years, so I didn't learn anything new. But, it's great that this is all being said. However, Raiden exposes his belly ALL the time and he wants, no insists, that you kneel down and rub it over and over again. He LOVES tummy rubs, although he is the only cat I've ever had that did not immediately wrap their claws around your hand and bite it.

Thanks to the internet there is so much information out there. I truly didn't know how to deal with cats until this last one. Not one ever had a cat tree as they were mainly outdoor cats. I really didn't know their personalities. I've delved into bengal ownership with vengeance and keep trying to learn more and more about cats in general. Articles like this one really do help.
