Hi all,

I hope you are having a lovely week so far!! I really loved the thread on here that encouraged everyone to actually show what they looked like and talk about themselves a little so i thought i would try to continue the theme!

I thought it would be nice if everyone shared an interesting / surprising fact about themselves! Something that you would just never guess!

So i will start off with two to get us going :D

1) I worked in an Aboriginal Boarding School in Townsville, Australia for 8 months a few years ago. It was one of my proudest achievements as many of the children there had grown up in very closed, cut off communities and did not trust outsiders very easily. Yet slowly they began to trust me and confide in me which resulted in helping one girl in a court case and in being invited into certain Aboriginal communities which are usually very restricted.

2) I got to the second stage of interviews for a job with MI5, we had undisclosed locations for interviews, had all electronic comms removed before entering and were given alternative names on the name badges to protect identity. (I know...it sounds utterly ridiculous but I promise it's true!)

So, come on guys, share your lives and give us an interesting fact or two!!

Hi

Well, when I was almost 21 (1989), my friend and I got a 12 month working holiday visa and went round the world. I went to America, Tahiti, Australia (where I met my husband), Singapore and home. The best thing I've ever done! We went to Sydney, Melbourne, Surfer's Paradise, Perth in Oz.

Hola.

I am a 3rd dan black belt in traditional Shotokan Karate - Trained in London by Enoeda Sensei, 8th Dan, Japan Karate Association.

I was a polo groom, in the mid-80's, working at Smiths Lawn, Windsor, and Cowdray Park, W Sussex, where I met Princess Diana and other members of the Royal family and pop-stars like Toyah, Sting and Genesis! I actually turned down free tickets to Live Aid because my boss was playing that day! DOH!

I have seen Michael Jackson in concert 34 times, and actually met him twice by accident....

I used to crew on a 43 foot Beneteau racing yacht, and competed in several Cowes Week campaigns - winning two years outright!

And did I mention I am a very proud grandmother to 3.5 year old Tristan?

Hi LisaLisa, No - Just Hola is a nice word!

That would have been the BAD tour! I went to every Wembley night on that tour, and to loads of other venues - Cardiff, Leeds, Ireland, France and Germany! I also went to every Wembley night and other UK dates for the Dangerous tour, and several of the HiStory tour. Had tickets for This is It {{{SIGH}}} the final night. Bl**dy AEG / MURR4Y!

I actually got a cracked rib, twisted my ankle badly and bruised a disc at Wembley (on July 16th, I seem to recall) where I was on the front row when 30,000 fans rushed forward on the pitch and pinned us all on the railings! OUCH! MJs security team were lovely - carted me off for first aid, then put me back in the front row when I was patched up, in time for the concert! That was when Kriss Kross opened the show, I believe.

Hi Jo

What a story!! I just went to one concert - Kim Wilde was the support act (We're the Kids in America etc..). She was good but everyone couldn't wait for Jacko to come on! His show was out of this world. This was when he was not as weird as he would become in later years (if you know what I mean!!)

I applied for MI5 too, and got through to the second stage. I did my first interview at Kings College London, this is where they ask you to make decisions based on an information booklet. I don't think i was as dark skinned as they would have liked me to be however, just after the bombings in London and they were recruiting for people with more Muslim look about them.

I've successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro!

And went on a safari after the climb, where as a crazy cat lady, the following photo opportunity was probably more exciting than making it to the top of Kilimanjaro! LOL
