Can some one remind me how much in general, a kitten (moggie) is supposed to eat? Tommy will eat a good half a pint of james wellbeloved kibble and 1 pouch of wet food. Is that right? he drinks alot too. I've tried getting him onto wet foods but the only wet stuff he is interested in, is the damn tap, bath, shower, loo.............I think, he thinks he is a tux bengal

On a good note, since he's been here, rori has actually started eating wet food.

He's around 19-20 weeks

I've heard various things. In general they say you can never really feed a kitten "too much". Their stomachs are smaller so they can eat 4-6 smaller meals each day. I've heard that up to a year old you can basically feed them as much as they'll eat but I don't really follow that notion. After the boys were 4-5 months old we started feeding them the normal 2-3% of their body weight per day. You'll see most of the wet kitten food comes in 3oz cans so you could probably stand to do two wet meals a day and free feed a grain free dry food in between if you wanted to do that instead of so many meals. Obviously there comes a point where free feeding is not the best option and you run the risk of obesity but that's really not an issue while he is still so young. The rule of thumb is 2% to lose weight 2.5% to maintain current weight and 3% to gain.

The more dry he eats the more water he will end up drinking. Most of the time if a cat is on a primarily wet or RAW diet you'll see them drink very small amounts of water because most of the water they need to sustain themselves is found in their food.

If he wont eat wet I would just try to find a good grain free dry for now.

Hope this helps.

thanks, that helps alot :D

He is a little mite, with dry food  he goes crazy for james wellbeloved, so i stick with that, he'll eat a small amount of applaw plain chicken and a little bit of wet food but he doesn't seem to be a wet food fan. I tried normal chicken breast but again, only ate a small amount. i mix in some dried kidney/liver (only a small amount) and bone granules into his biscuits, makes him more crazy lol
