Hi, with much thanks to my network, I have been offered a free handset upgrade in January. Currently I have an iPhone 4S, and while I do like it's functionality, I find the camera a bit limited. As I love taking pics of the cats - especially when they are doing something really silly or cute, the phone is usually the easiest to grab. So far, I have "limited" my choices to the following:

iPhone 5
Galaxy S3
Nokia Lumia 820

And some consideration to a decent Blackberry, although I had one some time ago and found the buttons really fiddly.

So, what do I need? -

Easy to text/make calls
Facebook & Twitter
Email
Quickly able to add photos to facebook/twitter or email from albums
offline photo storage (cloud account)
Good web browser
Wireless/3G internet connection
Able to customise ringtones
Silent/vibrate modes
Calendar
Good contact memory, with ability to store several phone numbers/email/twitter and facebook details under one contact name
Bluetooth
Ease of music library - including downloadable music (similar to iTunes)
ebook app or something - ideally able to link to Kindle account
Good camera

So, not much then  I use all of the above on a regular (often daily) basis so all are of equal importance. if I have to compromise on anything, it would be the downloadable music.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to suggest. Many thanks

I can chime in a little on the camera area! I have the iphone 5 and my husband has the galaxy s3 and his camera blows mine away as far as quality of pictures! I cant really get good ones of the kids or BB as they always come out blurry or just poor quality in general! My husbands phone on the other hand takes great pictures and even better action pictures and never turns out blurry. I hope that helps a little! Oh and with the music download my husband has an app that allows free music downloads where as with apple you are limited to iTunes.

I went from iPhone 4 to the vet Galaxy S3 and never liked back. Except for the scrabble app, they're all comparable. The photos are awesome, and I can manage my calendars (8 of them!) in real time. I had four email addresses atht he moment and it's doing fine, no crashing. I really like that I can pull up documents from my email without much issue(tthe 4 wouldn't open docx files). I love the huge screen and light weight in comparison to to the iPhone. Overall, I'm addicted to my galaxy. Plus, the jelly bean update is insane ! And with an additional SD card, I have 60g of space for music, movies when traveling, photos, documents... Amazing.

I've got the Samsung Galaxy S3 as well and it is outstanding. Embarrassingly I adore my phone

As said above, the camera is really good quality. I think all android phones are fairly similar to use once you get used to them.

I have the S3, you will not be disappointed. The new operating system is AMAZING. My fiance has the iphone 4gs, not even close to comparable.

I've got the iphone 5 which is great, I did have the galaxy and yes the camera is awesome, it's actually a fab phone, the only thing I hated (and this was about a year ago so may have changed) was what a pain it was to get music etc on it, itunes makes it soooo easy. I did love that phone. I have heard that windows phones are the future though....

galaxy 3 is very impressive I thought.
the only downside is the battery life - it only last 1 day, so means charging every day, and have a charges at work, at home , in the car .
Where my old nokia smartphone does pretty much the same funtions (less impressive camera), and last up to 3 -4 days charged.

You just drag and drop the files onto the phone, as it's attached to your laptop/computer/whatever.
