That advert wound me up...

"and because Iams contains more nutrients you don't have to feed me so much" - BULLSHIT one of the very few pleasures my cats have are eating why would I want to feed them less (they are on a diet btw). Also Iams are part of the Proctor and Gamble Group and test on animals and have malnurished domestic cats in their attemts to arrive at balanced food for cats...... We already know what a balanced diet is for a cat.

It is a direct hit at pet food manufacturers who contain loads of vegetables in their foods, as filler agents and carbohydrate sources.

From what I recall they sell Iams in Australia too. Probably not the same adverts over there. I found buying quality pet food in Australia very hard and the only stuff I could buy in Aus around 2009/2010 time was imported american food as all the stuff in Australia was full off fillers!!

Are there better quality pet foods available now maybutterfly? Fenstar was saying it was getting increasingly difficult to even get Evo and other imports over there now. I think if and when I move back I'll go for the complete raw diet.

I think you are right, we do have IAMS here too, I think I am just lucky we don't have that ad by the sounds. I think there are more quality foods here now but as we don't have our pair yet I have not looked a lot. We will be feeding ours a raw diet as this is what the breeder does and I am happy to continue doing so, there is a pet food store that sells the appropriate food for them, as for dry, what is it you suggest I should be looking for at the top of my list. Our last kitty loved the whiskas brand only.... But I know that our current kitties are eating Advance (Aussie made). So will at least do that, the store I visited yesterday says its a good one, I grabbed the info on it and will do some reading I think, there is a new one out called Black Hawk (I think that's the name) and it was recommended too. It gets confusing, there are a lot around. There is a raw one that I saw yesterday too but can't remember the brand, just far too expensive I thought, I won't feed wet food, I personally have never been a fan and our last cat only ate raw too, so it's habit as well, it seems quite easy to get too around here over the quality wet food by the looks (see I never really knew a lot about better quality wet, I only see the stuff in the tins here that I can't stand the smell of). Off to do more research I suppose, have 6 weeks to get an idea.
