My Yumyums lost her old companion before xmas and we know she misses him as she still wanders looking for him occasionally now. She is lonely and stopped being a lap cat though she sleeps in a cardboard box with a fleece watching me at night. Our rescue kennels have a sweet 6 year old rescue that came in a dreadful condition. Skin rashes and constant upset diarrhea. It's taken them months to get her to an acceptable health level. She needs a steroid jag every 8 weeks and is fed Hills I/D biscuits only. I use Taste of the Wild for Yums and the vet is delighted with her condition and coat. Kennels are happy to try Taste of the wild with Sophie gradually and we are going to take her on trial for a few weeks.

Anybody have any thoughts about how I can best introduce the non Bengal to my cat. Yums still wees where she feels like it. We'll wait and see what happens as Sophie is litter trained and also an indoor cat. We've always had difficult or disabled cats so my Bengal was a new experience.

Hi, I think its a great thing that you are taking in an older cat as these are the ones that dont get picked at the rescue centre, espcially the ones who might have a disability.

I only just got a bengal kitten a few weeks ago so I'm not too experienced in this area but I do have a domestic shorthair cat who is 4 now. You have to make sure that the already resident cat feels like he/she is still wanted in the home and you are not replacing them, yet let him/her know that the new cat is welcome buy showing them both affection.

I presume you situation is pretty much the same as two regular cats in a household, i dont think it matters that one is a bengal. You should google what is the best way to introduce your cat to a new cat.
Remember that as both these cats are older, their personalities are already formed, and that to your bengal, this is an intruder coming into HIS/HER house. So bear that in mind. Remember also that patience is KEY!

We are doing very well. We have had no weeing on chairs floor etc. Yums goes in litter boxes at the moment Sophie has hers which is a great start. Seperating them because of the special diet Sophie needs is good with Yums but Sophie mooches whatever she can get hold off. Exzcema and diet problems.They had spats and growl but after 25 days we are delighted. Not quite at the sleep with each other but within a foot is great. Very pleased.

aw lovely, so glad to hear things are progressing well. It often takes a little longer with adult cats but yours are definitely getting there

An update on Yumyums and Sophie. We are very happy with them.Sophie reacted to Taste of the Wild in the rescue kennels but she now gets some mixed with her Hill sensitive diet and also she is now allowed white boiled fish occasionally. She's not had one upset stomach yet and hasn't had any excema. She's had 2 steroid jags and this time we have got to 7 weeks and no need for one yet. There was an uneasy air for a few weeks and we were very careful to fuss yums as well as Sophie. The best thing is that Yums isn't peeing everywhere and has only peed on hubby's chair a few times. He puts a large box on his seat when he leaves it and this seems to work. We also now use Oko clumping litter and it's great.This is a rare moment of them together and they do have fights but vet told me to water spray each cat to stop them. Sophie doesn't go out and after over a year in kennels doesn't seem to want to go out. A good thing as Yums doesn't go out either. Sophie has ,we believe, helped Yumyums over losing her first companion here.

Beautiful Cats, glad to hear things are going well. Was really pleased to hear of a happy ending for a rescue cat, wish more people would consider adopting.
