so im going on a cruise in december.....im excited but not so much about leaving my baby behind !!! i dont know if i can do this!! well i was going to leave safari with the BFs sister....but she has kids and im scared one of the kids may leave the door open & safari run outside ...plus safari is a crazy cat...if she leaves food out he will get into it...and may cause upset tummy...plus he needs lots of play time....i will be gone for 5 days... then my other option is one of my GFs who has two little dogs soo i could see a claw now to one of those poor dogs....i would say my sisters but she has a mean cat and that would stress safari out. the BF suggest i leave safari at home and just get someone to go over there & feed him & flush toliet since he is toliet trained but that just sounds horriable! safari would be sooo lonely!! i was going to ask my breeder but i dont know if that is possiable considering she already has her cats there and safari im not sure how that would go....ahhhh the bottom line is i just really dont trust no one with him...hes such a handful....any advice...??? i was thinking just sneak him on the boat....hes never been to mexico before

I think a cat sitter would be your best option. Since your sister has experience with cats and Safari I would see if she could come and check on hi and play with him for a little while. I dont think it would be a good thing to uproot him and take him somewhere with other animals if he is not used to that! That is what I personally think but I dont know I have never delt with that before.I know BB would go nuts if I had to take her somewhere other than my mothers.

THANKS BB and i would get my sis to come over but she lives a hour away and works full time i just cant decide if he would rather be at someones house and always busy or in his nice enviroment lonely.... he loves people though and is very social everytime i bring him some where....

I think that is a personal call only you know how he is with other people. Personally I would look into a cat sitter I think cats do better when they are in the comfortable place which would be home. I have had to take BB to my mothers and she stayed there about a week when I was in the hospital. She did fine and likes going over there. The thing is she already knew my mom and her dog and its a pretty quite enviroment. If I were you I would try to find someone he knows and someone that is at home most of the time.I think my biggest fear would be that BB would like it somewhere else better than she does home and want to stay there. Something to consider! I know it has to be hard! You still have a little time tho!

THANS BB! I think im really considering the BFs sister....she has no other pets and safari has been over there plenty of times...im just a worried wart about him because i know how needy he can be.....plus i would be nervous thinking what if one of the kids left the door open and he gets out....but his sis knows how safari is our BABY and i know she wouldnt let anything happen to him....i just never left him alone with anyone with out my supervision besides the vets and i worry there too....lol

I feel for you, we haven't got a holiday booked but I'm already worrying about what we'll do with Willow when we do go away! It's heartbreaking!! I'd be worried about Willow being lonely with a cat sitter and getting destructive as I don't think she'd get enough play at all (or it would cost a FORTUNE!!!). It's a tough decision and I hope you find something that works well!

Sounds like auntie is a great option if shes game. Maybe you could do some trial runs with the sister before hand to get him used to her place? My thinking is that it may help everyone adjust to or get ready for the changes when you are gone? I have a feeling Safari is as attached to you as Max is to us. We haven't left him for more than one night yet but I have thought a lot about what we would do if we had to leave him & the girls longer. With the girls, we have had someone come in and feed them, let them know they are loved and call it a day. Drop in method won't cut it for Max. I too am nervous about someone else not really understanding how much interaction and play to drain energy Max needs. So.... Here's what I'd try.

If Safari's going to be staying at your house while you are gone you could have her come have play time with him while you're home, then step out for a bit to let them bond (& you can see how it goes without you before you are so far away from your baby). This will also help you feel confident she understands how much play he needs. I know Max needs a good workout or his curiosity and pent up energy can mean destructo mode while we are gone. If Safari would be staying at her house, maybe you can have him go visit briefly, then do a longer visit & maybe even an overnight or two before you go. This would help him know mommy will come back for him & aunties house can be a fun place too. It also gives her a chance to see his quirks & needs for herself while you are local. Haven't tried it ourselves yet, but after seeing how Max does with new situations its what I would try. So...... Just throwing it out there for ya. Good luck & enjoy your cruise.

thanks!! and we do take safari over there for visits alot so he is used to it...but its never a over night i guess because i know how crazy he can be....but yes we will deff try a night or two to see how things go before i just drop him off and hope for the best and worry im just sooo scared she may say he is to much an cant watch him for the 5 days which i know wont happen but he can be a handful at times.....im a smoker and when i go outside at the sisters house to smoke real quick safari meows at the door for me so i imagine he will be doing alot of meowing once we leave him alone with them for a night....but that is a great plan so she can see what he does and we can discuss it before hand. i guess im just so used to safari and his habits and know him like the back of my hand that someone else may think hes a crazy kitty. but thanks for the advice and will do that. everyone i talk to is like YES i would LOVE to watch safari....but i dont think they really understand how much of a needy in your face cat he is.... so we will see
