If God made spiders - why did he make them so ugly?

I am talking about the good old house spider we get here in the UK. Tiny body, long spindly legs. Makes my skin crawl just thinking of them. Had to go and get OH from other room to remove two of the beasts a few minutes ago. One of the not delightful things was right above the bed so that had to go or it would probably have either dropped right in front of my face or I would have had nightmares all night.

Sorry for anyone that likes these spiders but I have a huge phobia about them. The only things that overtake this phobia are the truly horrible "daddy long legs" , moths and similar things. I blame it on my wonderful second oldest brother, who enjoyed tormenting his little sister.

The best thing (for him) was to put a few daddy long legs down my back. I didn't sleep for three weeks after. OK I was only about 4 and he was 10. And even now, 40 years later, if one of these things comes in the room, I am out of the room very, very quickly until hubby has killed it - or until one of the cats kills it.

Haha, you may not want to know this, but we all unwittingly ingest, on average, eight spiders each per year!

Yes, I have heard that.

Today, I got our little DustBuster mini Hoover and vacuumed up all the spiders I could find. A very satisfying day.

Urghhhhh!! Those videos are awful!! I can deal with spiders as long as they're not in my house/on me. Apart from the big 1s actually, I think tarantula's are kinda cute. Although saying that if I found 1 in my house I don't think I'd cope very well!

And NOTHING is worse than daddy long legs! We had our bedroom window open all day the other week, went in to go to bed and there's 4 of them flying round! It took my OH around 45mins to catch them all and get rid of them while I was nearly falling asleep on the stairs!

"the marijuana spider didn't build a web, it built a hammock and sat on it all day, watching the spider on caffine"

That is hilarious!

My OH is terrified of spiders (& frogs) so its my job to do the catching & removing. Not always easy as our ceilings are 3m high & I'm only 1.5m-ish tall. The kids love helping to catch them & then take them to show daddy
Even the Tino is at it, he caught a huge one yesterday & carried it proudly into the room for daddy

holy crap - why did i look at this thread!?
I hate hate hate spiders - even tiny weeny little ones. I'm so pleased that my cats get rid of them for me - although they were a little amused by the harvest spiders in my parents house - they didn't quite understand the long legs why it tickled their noses - I wish they would learn to stamp on them first!
