I have my bedroom window open due to the warm weather, and this morning, I was awakened early by a rather strange sound.
A young Jackdaw taking its first flight must have landed on my windowsill. It managed to get in the bedroom and fly around in the room. Its parents were outside making one helluva din.
The cats heard it, and were frantically scratching at the door trying to get in. Anyway, after a few minutes I managed to catch it and let it out.

The nest is in a tree opposite the house. I've been looking at it for the past few days thinking it must be close to first flight time.
I've been watching them flying around all morning. Looks like the parents are teaching them the basics.

Lucky you caught it. Unfortunately, in the past two weeks my cats have caught one bird and one mouse. They actually caught the mouse twice, once for real and the second time they simply dragged it out of the bin onto the dining room floor to scare me.
