So, we moved in three weeks ago, had SKY Tv put in the day afyer we move, inc full HD movies/sports pack..
(NB: for those not in UK and have not heard of SKY - lucky you, no seriously - it is Satellite TV)
Then last week we had our phone & internet connected by SKY as well .... and all was well until we got our new TV last week and I suddenly realise that the "Sky Anytime +" - Sky's on demand TV, was not working. Over the past five days I have checked our broadband router, the TV connections, the cabling in the back of the TV along with the connections on back of the SKY box. Double checked the SKY Ethernet connection ad all in back of the SKY box. So this afternoon, I thought that I would phone SKY - being prepared to tell them how cr*p their service was.
I ended up speaking to this really helpful chap who asked me to check all the connections, which I did. Then he asked me to check that the green ethernet cable was in abck of the SKY box - yes. And when he asked me where it led to - I looked and said "to the white wire that Sky enginerr put in". Ok, he says, now go to broadband router and look in the back. I did - Yes the ethernet cable is there. Is it connected to SKY box - err yes. Ah no, scratch that. ooops - have just found a green ethernet cable rolling around the floor
In fairness, he didnt laugh but instead went through a minor prob showing on our broadband. We knew it had been slow, but we thought it was because it was a new connection. our speed was about 2.3mbps. The so called telephone engineer had connected the ADSL filter the wrong way, and once amended our speed instantly went up to 9.6mbps
So - a really big Thank You to Alan in SKY support
