I did tell him it applies to Maltese dogs! Haha well he has been taking him outside to pee since he always seems to do his business when we put him outside (like he would have been used to it from the breeder teaching it to go outside ) I don't know if that will make potty training any harder since if nobody is home to let him out he would still pee on the floor? but I have told them all I can and its up to them now , I don't wanna be forceful or seem like a control freak or anything.

That's what crate training is for. Dogs don't like to mess where they sleep. And you SHOULD be like a control freak... you have to live with their mistakes, and if/when they get caught, it'll come down on your cat.

Not necessarily. Say your landlord doesn't feel comfortable letting you have any pets at all anymore, since you broke the rules?

I live in Australia , rules are different here. Landlords cannot legally get rid of a pet from a tenant. So my cat is safe.
