So I was doing some googling to try to come up with name ideas for my new snow that I am picking up in a month and I searched "snow leopards in zoos" just to see what kind of names the zoos are giving... well look at these little faces!!!

I live by Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire (UK) and they have a pair of Snow Leopards that had babies last year. It was the same day that my first litter of Tonkinese were born. The cubs are now 1 year old and gorgeous.

It is actually free to see the Snow Leopard enclosure as it's in their visitor centre so i pop there every now and then to have a coffee and sit and watch. Got some pictures on my phone, i'll try and pop some on here.

Lollo where abouts in leicester do you live? I lived in leicester all my life and worked at twycross for a time settling in the snows when they first arrived at twycross. Had to move up here to cumbria due to partners job relocation! How are they doing? I remember they hated each other ehilst i was there. Have they managed to bond? Any babies?!

Omg, all that cuteness is almost too much to handle! Wild cats are just the most beautiful creatures on earth, imo. <3

A Bond To Last A Lifetime, One Year Later

Image

Who can forget Kasi, Busch Gardens' Cheetah Cub born January 17th 2011, and his playpal Mtani, the Labrador Retriever puppy? For readers who've never met the dynamic duo, Kasi was paired with Mtani in order to help him get accustomed to socializing with other animals. “Male cheetahs are social and often live together in coalitions,” explained animal curator Tim Smith. “This social bond will be a very similar relationship, and they will be together for life."

Monday, April 16 marked the one-year anniversary of the first time park guests got to see an 8-week-old male cheetah cub and a 16-week-old female yellow Labrador puppy start to strike up a friendship that the park’s animal experts expect to last a lifetime. Now, a year later, they live together full time at the park’s Cheetah Run habitat and even travel together to schools, events and television studios, helping the park’s education team teach the public about the plight of cheetahs in the wild and the importance of Busch Gardens’ conservation efforts.

We actually saw these guys in person when we went to Busch Gardens on April 24th (before we went to pick Loki up from the breeder who is also located in the Tampa area). They are SO sweet together. Cheetahs are amazing. 8)
