I am super paranoid about the washing machine. I'm pretty sure my two are ninjas as they are forever sneaking past me. I put some washing in the machine one time and wasn't sure where they were, so I shut the washing machine door but didn't switch it on and hunted high and low for them both. Turns out they'd gotten into the toilet next door to the washing machine and had shut the door behind them, effectively trapping themselves in there!
Fortunately my washing machine is in a utility room which has it's own door. The kitchen door is always kept shut too, so they have to get past two shut doors to get anywhere near the machine. I only worry when I'm doing washing as they like to see what I'm doing and try and "help out"!
