Hope these new members wanting to do raw feeding will see this. You might want to at least post the first video in the nutrition forum under that topic!!!

First of all - we raw feed our cats and we are definitely proponents of doing so.

That being said for anyone who raw feeds or who is considering raw feeding the biggest caution is to make sure that you get it nutritionally balanced. I'm confident that you spent the time getting things right - so this isn't to you.

However, I just want to caution anyone else - raw feeding is not as simple as getting some raw meat, cutting it up and feeding your cat. They need to have specific things - the most obvious one is Taurine. Taurine is a requirement for cats to live and as obligate carnivores they can ONLY get it in their food. There are tons of other things too like ratios of meat to bone to organ, etc.

We've spent a time talking to vets and veterinary nutritionists and the main reason that they do not like raw feeding is that most people don't take the time to do a balanced recipe and to understand what is necessary.

Raw feeding can be really rewarding to your cats and we've found that they enjoy it and are generally healthier - I've heard so many stories of sick cats (especially diabetes) that are so much better on raw food diets. Just please, do it right!

The recipe there is great - no concerns. It's actually basically a copy from http://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/ which has amazing information on it.

After making a bunch of raw food for a while, we went away from all of the different supplements and we now use Kitty Bloom VM 900 + 3 (http://www.dogbloom.com/store/p19/Kitty ... 900_3.html) and just supplement some taurine and salt. We only supplement taurine as we freeze the food and there have been some studies that taurine can degrade with frozen food over time - so don't want to risk it.
