Christmas trees can be dangerous for cats. Many love to hop up in them and topple them over. Tinsel can be a huge problem if the cat ingests it as it is sharp and has cut many intestines. We do not put up a Christmas tree an there were a ton of questions asked on Facebook on how to protect the tree and the kitty. There is even something going around on an artificial tree that cats have licked and gotten sick. Whether this is true or not, I was unable to find anything out searching the web. There are a lot of fake things going around.

Hopefully, for those of you who put up a tree and decorations, Christmas will be a safe and happy one for you and your furbabies.

Personally I don't bother, I would love to but it would last 5 minutes with Pearl.

I don't think I have put one up for around 5 years.

We have had a Christmas tree every year.

Quasar has not given it a second glance EXCEPT last year when my mum was visiting and hid a cat teaser toy in the branches Christmas Eve. Quasar didn't destroy the tree but it was at a slight tilt on Christmas morning.

We didn't know why it happened until mum reached in and grabbed the toy for Q. :rolleyes:

This'll be the first year that I've had Christmas tree in my own place, as my mum is coming to me for Christmas rather than the usual me going back to the UK. It'll be interesting to see what the munchkins make of it, but I don't have high hopes after Babbbage stage dived onto my Ficus tree for giggles a couple of weeks ago - pebbles and soil and tree all over the place.

I've had a Christmas tree a couple of years with these bengals. I just get the tree in a stand... that's it. No decorations or lights. And they can do what they will to it! They've enjoyed it! They walk around it, sleep under it, poke it, prod it, and it makes the house smell nice, while still being kind of Christmas-y.
