Arya have been developing this nice big Silver smudge on her forehead over the past couple of days and as her fuzzies are now finally starting to clear more she's actually going white and I'm wondering if the Ivory tinge is the glitter (she has a lot) and the left over fuzzies. Also her eyes are getting darker.

What do you guys all think? I've emailed my breeder to ask as she specialises in silver snows and silvers she really wasn't sure with Arya as she was so immature. Initially she looked silver snow, then in the fuzzies snow and now possibly back to silver snow.

Really excited now to see how my two develop over the next year.

I heard back from her breeder, sounds like she probably is silver snow as well as Griff just not as pronounced, her litter brother has also started showing silver markings as well now. Apparently it can take months to show if they are lighter silver snows.

SDC10434-1.jpgThis is a picture of my previous boy Frosty who I lost to cancer, he was a snow spotted and he looks the same as your Griffith.

Down the vets today got them both weighed

Arya 16 weeks 0.9kg
Griffith 17 weeks 1.7kg

Griffith has a mild eye infection so got some gel for it should clear up in a few days no scratches on his eye thank god, on the way out Arya managed to snag and break her claw so there was blood everywhere but she's fine now. I'm gonna put antiseptic power on it and keep an eye on it silly little thing.

There is a way to tell the difference between all the silvers and snows and minks and points but I would have to Google to find it. Their coats will continue to develop. Sounds like an interesting trip to the vet but happy both are doing well. Poor Arya! Hope Griffith's eye heals just fine.

Ive never heard of a silver snow! I thought she looked like a snow lynx, but I thought the snows only came in lynx, mink or sepia. You are opening my eyes!

It's what happens when a snow carries the silver gene so usually most of the brown areas on their coat go silver or charcoal and their coat is a Snow/ice White colour rather than ivory. It's the same as a silver is a brown cat who has the silver gene and it's removed all the colour from the coat so they look silver, it's also why silvers often have brown tarnish appear later on. What the (i) inhibitor gene does is remove colour so silver isn't actually a colour is a lack of colour.

It's very hard to tell the difference as kittens besides the backs of their ears are silver rather than brown and they usually need to have one silver parent or a parent that carries for silver. Arya's dad is silver and her mum is a seal Lynx point, in her litter it's now looking like there where two silver snows, two Lynx snows and one brown. The breeder I got the from Junglefire specialises in silvers and has since 1999 but even she said you can't always tell a silver snow by 13 weeks some it comes in very late and she doesn't find out they are silver snow until they are in their new homes.

http://silverstormbengals.co.uk/bengal-type/ Explains the colours a bit better with photos

Arya last night you can see how she's changed since coming out of her fuzzies

Griffith has very apparent silver markings on his face

I didn't know about them until this year then I saw one and just fell in love with the colour they are like a very contrasty snow.

When I got Frosty I hadn't heard of any other type of snow, both his parents and grandparents were just called snow spotted, is silver something newer.

DSC_0146-1.jpgPearls face and colouring looks so similar to what other people call snow lynx and other names but she is a snow rosetted.
I thought silver ones were really silver by some of the pictures I've seen.

They are both gorgeous, I love their little faces when they sleep, I adore my 2.

Maybe when I had Frosty which would have been around 11 years ago they just called them snows, also the lady I get mine from had only just began breeding Frosty was was amoung the first litters she had.

The 2 I have now are also from her.
