Just picked up this lovely cat from a bengal breeder. We met the mother which was a full bengal and the father was a moggie which we didn't meet. This was the only black cat of the litter and he has really really faint spots on him. Does anyone own a half bengal that is black? What did it turn out to look like? Will her spots fade or grow stronger?

Edit: Just for clarity, here is a picture of the mother with one of the kittens.

Black bengals are called melanistic bengals. You can see the rosettes through the black coloring. Those rosettes will probably stay about the same as they are now. The mother of this kitty is gorgeous! Too bad the breeder allowed a moggie to impregnate the queen. Your little one is super adorable.

Thanks. It is the most confident kitten I have ever met. From the second she arrived home she was pouncing about everywhere without a care in the world. She explores everything, hasn't hid once and keeps trying to leave the room!!


The reason I ask it because I have seen google images of ones that the spots show really well when they grow and others that it says more subtle markings and from a distance you would probably think it is a regular cat.

She's absolutely gorgeous - I do hope the breeder is more careful next time...
