Yay! Izzy is reserved! I am going to pop down to cats protection and tell them to give Izzys new mum and dad the info for this forum and hopefully they will join and let us know how she gets on! There was also the most gorgeous 14 yr old cream coloured Oriental called Jack. I went in and fussed him for ages. He gave me the hardest head butts ever, it was as if he just could not get close enough, he was a cat you could literally hug tight. I fell in love with the old fella but he is not ready to rehome as he has a runny tummy and they need to sort it out. Just upsets me that the reason he has runny poo might be the stress of being in a cattery. how will he ever get better and get a new loving home if they can't sort his tummy out? :sad:

The best news! Just had a client in for a facial (am a beauty therapist) Oscar meowed outside the door demanding food :rolleyes:

My client said that her friend is adopting a bengal. Cannot believe the coincidence as it's Izzy, the cat I had posted about an hour ago! Great news as this lady already volunteers at Newbury cats protection so is very experienced with kitties etc and apparently has always had siamese so is used to vocal cats!!! Am so glad Izzy is going to a lovely new home. Lets hope her new mum joins the forum!

Such a small world, Melissa! Oscar is so handsome. How does he not get through the balcony railings? They look fairly wide to me. Maybe he's just well behaved!!! Happy for Izzy! Always love a happy ending with an adoption. We'd love to have the owner join us here. I just don't know how on earth you can go there and not come home with 15 other cats! Seriously!!!

Oscar, looks so huggable like a big huge teddy bear. So pleased to hear Izzy was adopted too. Seems to be a lot of Bengals at Newbury CPL?!

So sad to hear about the elderly Oriental. How very sad that a cat of that age should find themselves there. I hope some kind hearted person adopts when they sort out the runny tum.

Don't worry Sherry, our house is only 1 and half storeys. The house is set down and the garden is built up with a retaining wall. Oscar goes through the railings and walks down the very non steep roof. He then has a small jump down to the lawn! Its also thatched which is very grippy for him. I go to the rescue centre sometimes and just cuddle the cats. I think the staff are so amazing and do a wonderful job but they have the cleaning and feeding and allsorts to do so to have people who can just give the cats affection is also important part of their care. Some of the cats are frightened so I just talk to them but others, like the beautiful old oriental are so desperate for love it is heartbreaking. I would take them all if stroppy old Oscar would share but I suspect, like Raiden, sharing is the last thing he would ever do!!!!! Debbie - I did suggest probiotics for Jack to help him but I know the cats protection vet is on the case. Let's hope it does get sorted and someone falls in love with his character and gorgeous big ears!

That's wonderful news! I went on the Newbury CP website last night, Izzy looks like a lovely girl. Didn't see Jack but I guess he won't be up for adoption yet. I did fall in love with Harry, a colour point. Looked exactly like Jason from when I was a kid. I used to dress him up in dolls clothes and push him around in a pram. Not sure how I got away with it, he had identity issues and thought he was a dog lol It used to be him running to the door and growling instead of our Irish Setter, and all the local dogs were terrified of him. He was a massive character, he used to hang around our dog's neck and they would charge up and down the garden, and he used to tag along for walkies as well.

When you go in again, give him a bit of extra love from me if he's still waiting to be adopted. If I thought my two would accept him I'd drive up to Newbury and adopt him myself...

Our local animal control just had 3 days of FREE adoptions and 99 dogs and cats were adopted in two days. One was an elderly kitty they had just about given up hope of ever being adopted, but an older gentlemen took the kitty. I remember when I was searching for my Bear who disappeared and I stopped by there weekly to see if he was there (he was microchipped and they claimed they checked the animals as they were brought in). Saw so many lovely kitties -- I always made my trip there quick and had tears in my eyes walking out. So sad for those kitties and sad that mine wasn't there. They are now bragging that their euthanasia rate has dropped drastically from 84% to just over 60%. That's a great reduction, but they are forced to have these FREE adoption days. Our county doesn't give them much for their budget and their facility holds about 300 animals. Once they hit that mark, they have free adoptions. How I wish every person would open their heart to an animal -- just one. Both of my next-door neighbors hate cats and dogs!
