Hi All

Just bought my two Bengal's on Saturday. I named them with the Tibetan names of 'Mila' which is the black male and 'Yogini' the tabby female. They are snooping around and getting used to my house and my other cat 'Tara' who I've had for 14 years and now even have the audacity to play with her toys There are a few stand off's but they are getting closer to her.

The Bengals are very affectionate and let me pick them up, no trouble.

I don't think they are x breed. I saw their mum and dad who are not x breed.

I'm sorry to say that they must be cross breeds because pure bengals cannot have white feet.

Welcome to the forum. Mila and Yogini are beautiful kitties, but they are not true bengals. Yogini's facial features should be much darker and I don't see a rosette pattern. White paws are a dead giveaway. Bengals don't have them. Mila doesn't have any bengal markings at all. While melanistic bengals are black, you can still see their markings. I hope you didn't pay much for these kitties and they were not advertised as bengals. I'm guessing you did not get any papers with them stating they are purebred because, as others have said, they are not.

Still, I know you love these kitties and they will make a great addition to your family.

Those are some EXTREMELY cute kittens, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had no bengal in them at all, as typically you'd see more dominant bengal characteristics even in cross breeds. The white feet, pink toe pads and coat are dead giveaways that these aren't bengals.

The photo posted of the parent isn't a bengal either, but a nice looking tabby. Not all cats with spots or wild looking markings are bengals. I hope you didn't pay a lot for them and I really hope they weren't advertised broadly as bengal kittens. If they were, I think you should get some of your money back and possibly even report the "breeder."

Thanks for your advice and your comments.

Mila does have some melanistic markings but of course they are hard to see unless there are the correct lighting conditions. I did see the mum and dad, and they had some beautiful (what looked like) Bengal markings however I can't remember if they had white feet. I am not by any means an expert in cat breeds so all of your information is valuable to me. They may of course be x breeds as many of you say. One of the reasons I bought them was because my Ginger cat of 14 years, Dorge died about three weeks ago and Tara his black sister seemed very lonely. The latter has now taken to the kittens and even eats with them, though there are still a few stand offs.

I paid £150.00 for each kitten. This came with food and insurance for each kitten. I was just going to get the black one Mila, however when I first went to see the owner and saw the two playing together as they still do I had a guilt complex about separating them and offered to take the two. The owner did say that she had not registered them as pedigree Bengals. I don't really mind if they are x breed, as most of you say they are still very cute and good company for my other cat.

the main thing is the kittens are happy and healthy I hope they bring you lots of happiness they are really lovely little cats

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your other kitty! And I'm so pleased you are able to provide a great home for your two new ones. A great breeder of purebred bengals will provide papers showing they are truly bengals. This person did not want to do that .... so I'm guessing they are a bengal cross. Melanistic bengals can be registered with TICA. Regardless, they are gorgeous kitties. Congratulations.
