Massive no to declawing - it is cruel and is banned in most places - certainly is in the UK. If you look into exactly what they do, it is the equivalent of you having your fingers and toes chopped off and is incredibly painful for them. You will have to make sure you give her plenty of scratching opportunities with cat trees, scratching posts etc. But she may still scratch your furniture and leather marks really badly, I used to have a lovely leather headboard but it was wrecked very quickly. I think you need to accept leather furniture will be damaged.

You need to consider the cost aspect of more than one Bengal - it really adds up with their annual vaccinations etc so think very carefully before doing anything. Double the litter trays as well and cat furniture. Plus they can get a bit territorial when they hit social maturity - we had a tough time of it when they hit two years of age - never thought they would fall out as they'd been so close beforehand and it was so upsetting to see them fight etc. It took a lot of hard work to help them through it and now they are pretty good together, with just the odd sibling falling out!

I would stick at one if we did it again with the benefit of hindsight, but there are plenty of other members here who would advocate a Bengal buddy so its very much a personal decision. Female and male is probably better than two males though which is what we have!

With food, initially you need to stick to whatever the breeder is feeding them and the same with litter. Once she's settled in you can look at what you would like her to eat etc and gradually change her over to something else and changing the litter but must take into account she has to like the food and also is happy to use the litter. We've had to change to the heaviest litter in the world - but apparently because it is very close to sand (we now use clumping clay litter) it is the preferred substrate for cats and they will both use it happily, when Jagger had stopped using his trays previously.

Personally I think weeks is a bit early for kittens to be removed from their mothers.

I wouldn't recommend declawing, it's basically mutilation and you're effectively taking away yours cats first line of defence against everything that it may feel threatened by. If you want to attempt to protect your furniture make sure you have plenty of scratching posts, big ones, tall ones, wide ones, as you see fit and can afford.

If you are prepared to have your life drastically altered by owning your first cat, in reality it doesn't matter if you get one or more, any work that needs to be done will still need to be done, just the costs go up for toys, food, litter etc. We got four Bengals right off the bat, but we realised we would have to make huge sacrifices and put in a lot of effort to give them the happy life they deserve.

Diets are to some a matter of opinion, not everyone will agree and you'll get all sorts of 'best advice'. Initially though, for food and litter, stick with what the previous owner has been using and if you want to change these, wait a month, then slowly transition over a month, as a guideline. Actual progress could be faster or slower.

The one thing new owners don't really realise, is that taking on a Bengal is very literally like having a hyper toddler come teenager with ADHD and a bad attitude. However, you can, given the right methods, persistence, patience and effort train your kitten. They will learn the DO's and DON'T's in exactly the same way a child would. Once you wrap your head around that one key rule, it's much easier to understand them and train them accordingly.
