I have a six month old bengal boy. Ninety percent of the time he is really loving. He falls asleep on your lap loves cuddles but everynight he launches himself at me and attacks me biting and clawing me which is really painful.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can combat this please.

It sounds like he is trying to play wiht you like he would do with another cat. They love to wrestle and kick each others and that´s nou nou with their human companions. You could try this Kong Kickaroo toy, my bengals really enjoy kicking and biteing it. The best would be if he had a cat friend to play with, but I understand it is not always an option.

Bengals and especially boys are full of energy in that age, they needs a lot of physical activities.

Long used to do the exact same thing to me - attack me like another cat one minute then be an absolute cuddlebear the next.

I used to take his paws the moment he started to dig in and gently push them in, making a high squeaking sound (like my other one makes when he feels he is getting too 'bullied.') I don't know if it had a real effect or if it's just because he grew out of it, but when he plays he keeps his claws almost all the way in and he doesn't rip into my skin any longer. I think he has made the connection that I don't have a nice sturdy layer of fur and his clawing really does hurt!

When he gets *really* uncontrollably frisky, I toss him one of my husband's dirty old shirts... he'll sit there for hours trying to kill it.
