He normally has a 'few' drinks after work on Fridays anyway so he should be in a good mood when he gets home! (I will be having a few at home as well!)

Maybe you could try the whole: "I got you a present! .... you don't like it? ... *quivering bottom lip* " To be honest with you I haven't actually met any men, even those who hate cats, who can resist a kitten. Her cuteness will probably be enough to do the trick

I think that's a good idea by Swirly - make him think it's a present for him that you've been keeping secret. Maybe let him choose the name - if the kitten hasn't already got one.
