Well my silver bengal Teaka is due to give birth any day now and I am so excited!!

I was wondering what maybe the signs I should look out for and any advise that I may need. Its my very first litter and although I have read the books and talked to my mentor I am still very nervous and any extra advice is always welcome.

Wish me luck!!

Many Thanks XX

Awww...congrats!!! I just recently went through my girl having her first litter!

I think the signs of labor that I noticed were scratching and digging in the litter box a few days before. She also loved her tummy rubbed :D She was a little restless and started digging in her nesting box. I knew she was in hard labor when she was laying in her nesting box, and started putting her butt in the air (almost like she had to poo) every now and then. After a bit (maybe 3-4 hours) she popped the first baby out!!

A few things I found helpful were to have all of your supplies handy and ready to go, have dental floss pre-cut in case you need to tie the cords. One thing another breeder told me was that after she had the first few kittens, give her a mixture of plain (not low fat!) yogurt mixed with a little warm water and a wee bit of Karo (corn) syrup (through a syringe). It will give the queen an extra boost to get the last one or two out, and help prevent uterine inertia (what I was told). My girl took it with no problems, then pushed out the last one shortly after.

I also had a snuggle safe warmed and ready to put the babies on in case they needed it if they came too fast for her to keep up with.

There is a great thread in the breeding section that has tons of info regarding supplies.

I am sure you will do fine with your litter! The waiting is the hardest part

Best of luck to you and your future babies and congrats!!!! :D

Well there is still no kittens, although she has been quite clingy and been talking to me all day, I cant even go to the loo without here with me lol.

She attempted to get all snuggly in my clean washing pile earlier, but I soon moved her from that lol.

Kittens have been kicking up a storm in her belly I love watching all the kicking, just really want to meet them all now!!

Everything is ready just need the kittens to put in an appearance.

Xx

I am really excited but really nervous too!!

I have everything possible just incase and my mentor standing by if I need her, hoping it all goes smoothly Teaka has had kittens before so she knows what she is doing.

She has been getting in her kittening box this evening so, maybe it may happen tonight.

We have kittens!!

I woke up at 6.20 am to the sound of meowing and went and had a peek and there were 2 beautiful kittens born so far, mummy was going a great job and had cleaned them both up and was purring to say how proud she was.

At 6.58am number 3 arrived and again mummy being the expert she is just got on with it.

Waiting to see if there are any more, will keep u all posted!!

Xx
