now THAT'S a fantastic idea, getting the local school or college to do it as a project! i want a wheel or two but i'm really fussy on the design & wouldn't have a clue how to make one...i may have to get designing & chatting to the local college

bundles of bengals, here's some help with the designing:

I swear I had the actual design in my e-mail, but I can't find it. If you want it, I can ask Haltia's breeders for it and send it in a pm.

Apparently the wheel is really good practice for the students, because it contains so many different phases. So I'd imagine they'd be happy to take it on the program just about anywhere :)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I love your kitties! That's a great cat wheel. I really want one too! Is that one open in the back or is there plexiglass covering the spokes? That's one thing that I want when I get one. My marble girl Shine isn't the most graceful Bengal in the world and I could see her going out the back if it wasn't enclosed. :P

I adore your little grey cat! I have a big grey cat who is a great friend to my two Bengals. :D

The instructions are on Haltia's breeders' webpage:
http://www.sirucats.com/images/catwalk/

Apparently the measurments in the pictures are inches, so that should help. There's a "brake" at the back of the wheel, where you can adjust the stiffness of the wheel by twisting a screw type of thing.

Seamuskitty, there's no plex at the back, but I have been meaning to put something there myself, just in case. I've never heard of a cat wheel accident, Haltia's breeders have about 20 cats using them, and they've never had a problem. But it would make me feel better having something at the back, just in case. But that's something that can be added later too, like the carpet.

Apparently blue cats get along with bengals just great  Elvis is very handsome too :D

thanks very much ajapi!
it's the spokes that concern me with most cat wheels, & anywhere else that little curious paws could fit & get squished. after losing a beautiful kitten in an accident where she stuck her paw in a door hinge, i am completely paranoid about it now.
i'm sure with a few tweaks to the design i would feel more comfortable.

I'm sorry to hear that :( It's true that it's better to be safe than sorry.

I keep looking at cat wheels and there is one kind I really want that looks more like a box with a wheel inside of it...I will find the link later & post it. I think I might have posted it on this forum ages ago. There is a youtube channel for the company that makes them.

The wheel rolls on ball bearings--its really different.

But the one you have there is great, I would just be nervous about not having the back on it with my crew.

Oh we love Elvis very much, I wish we could get him to exercise at all. His biggest activity is dragging laundry into the living room... :P

Ren! I was trying to be delicate and not mention "manties"! I didn't want to get in trouble with meemonkey for mentioning the unmentionables that Elvis drags through the house! But since you brought it up...! That is Elvis' main amusement...!
