Ah, so... I caved.

Yuki's breeder sent me a photo of this little boy last night, and I couldn't say no to this face. His eyes remind me so much of Yuki, who is actually this little guy's great uncle.

He will look a lot like his mother: (she is younger in this pic)

His father:

And... a few more pics of the kitten:

I'm discussing things over right now, but it looks like I may have him next week. :)

Aww fantastic news and it's great that you'll have that connection to Yuki.

I'm thrilled that he is related to Yuki! I'm really hoping he'll have the same type of temperament that Yuki had. I'll try raising him with the same level of attention and affection to try making that possible. :)

The idea of having him shipped to me makes me a bit worried, but his breeder assured me that she's never had any problems from shipping kittens. It looks like we'll be going Continental too, which seems to have a good pet shipping program in place.

I of course will bombard the forum with photos after I receive him. :)

Aww brilliant. I know from experience how hard it is moving on from kittens who have passed on to new ones, but I'm sure you'll find that whilst you won't forget Yuki, the new lad will give you more pleasure and to a certain extent, Yuki lives on through him!

D'oh. I've already had a few people go on about why I should have gone with a rescue cat instead.

It is hard to explain why I want a bengal cat in my life to someone who has never had one... and I do have two other cats that are rescues.

I understand the passion behind people suggesting that I should have gotten a rescue myself. At the same time though, I know I can't rescue them all, and I do my part. A percentage of the money I make from my artwork goes to rescues, and of course I have my two rescue girls.

The problem lays in backyard breeders, people who don't have their pets spayed and neutered and the plain disrespect for the animal's lives. People like me who decided to have a pedigreed pet isn't to blame.

I believe that responsible breeding is in no way a bad thing. I've been in love with the bengal breed for well over ten years myself, and it took me five years to get my own.

Never, ever would I regret having owned Yuki, and I certainly don't feel bad about accepting his lovely little nephew.

I've owned many cats in my almost 30 years (ha), but I can honestly say that none have matched the type of personality and breed traits that I experienced with Yuki. I always want a bengal in my life. :)

In my case I'm not even paying anything for him! He is a gift from Yuki's breeder, and I am thankful for it. :)

Well, I DID pay for shipping...

I've never had a rescue kitten. Obi is my second cat only.

Every time I give stuff to charity though I support PDSA. They sent me a letter late last year to say my stuff had raised them something like £150. Not long after Indy died I had a massive clearout and took in bags of CD's and books and clothes. It took 3 trips from carpark to the shop.

I think some people said to get a 'regular moggy' as it might not die as young!!
