Just after Christmas day I had to put down my best buddy (7 year old Bengal X ) due to an aggressive cancer.
He was one of those animals you once in a lifetime that have the privilege to own..huge personality and intelligence and a constant source of fun and companionship.
Within hours of him being put down I was offered a 3 year old Bengal male which I had one look at and took him home.
Once the new cat figured out his new owner was more a co-conspirator in fun, mischief and crime than a threatening bogie man we have bonded extremely quickly and within a week I had taught him to high five so its high fives everywhere now..lol. (Most of this due to the Bengals intelligence I think.) I have had him right on 2 weeks now and anyone would think he had been here for years he has settled in so well. Again I have been privileged to own a smart, fun cat and hope to enjoy his company for many years to come.
I have called him Blue..pics following and I think you will agree I have been gifted a lovely cat.

Thanks for doing that Brian...I get along better with cats than I do with computers..they never do what you ask, doesn't matter how nicely you talk to them..lol.

Still very bruised about putting down my other cat but this new one is filling the hole very rapidly.

Blue has been a mantelpiece cat..well loved but had no real close interaction with people, shunned contact and didn't know how to play.
I spent 2 days sitting on the floor playing with a shoelace by my self until his curiosity got too much and he joined into the play.
From that point on the light bulb went on and instead of being scared of balls and toys he is making fun discoveries every day and it is wonderful watching him bloom.
I have let him initiate physical contact which he has done and was craving I am sure, and he is all over me every time I sit down.
Still a little hesitant about a lot of patting or being picked up but we had a play fight last night which was pure fun and we both enjoyed it immensely and he rested behind me on the couch with paw on my shoulder and nose in my hair.
It has been an easy ride to settle this one into his new home and watching his people and play skills so quickly develop.

But it is wonderful you and your new Bengal Blue have bonded so quickly. You needed each other and found each other at the right time! High fives? Wow. I wonder if I can teach Oberon to do that!

What an amazing relationship you have with Blue already. That will just continue to grow. Cats are just so amazing, especially bengals. It's always hard to lose pet -- but they never leave our hearts and, thankfully, our hearts are big enough for many.

Cats are amazing and complex little animals...Bengals even more so.
I have Synesthesia which lets me see/feel animals and peoples emotions and character, which animals have naturally and when they sense this in you all trust issues disappear and you have cats, dogs and any other animal that you have never met before climbing all over you so that's why Blue bonded so quick but it is still up to the cat/animal to accept you completely.
Bengals are so open and honest with their emotions more than any other cats which makes them so endearing and enjoyable to me.
But Blue has been exceptional and responded and adapted in typical 200%+ Bengal attitude to everything.

You are indeed blessed.

Got through his first vet visit with me...you got to love the Bengal growl...lol.
Apart from the growling he was perfect gentleman..did blood tests and heart checks and he is a fine healthy boy.
Vaccinations all up to date now.
Got him home and expecting him to hide out for a bit but no...straight to the food bowl.
Really couldn't expect anything else could you..lol

Cats are extremely forgiving. I give mine meds twice a day, which he hates, but he is always right back at my side, head butting me and sleeping at my side. Glad your little guy is healthy.
