I'm going to have to nominate somebody else, because this lady is an absolute legend and one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Not to mention the craziest of cat ladies.

My boyfriend's sister married a Turkish man so we now have lots of family and friends in Marmaris. One of the people I met was Jeannie, who heard I liked cats and Matt likes dogs. So she offered to take us to hers to visit 'her family', and I'm not sure what I was expecting. But it wasn't for her house to be a two-room shack surrounded by acre after acre of fenced in garden. She lives there with over 250 cats, 3 dogs and a donkey. They're all strays that she got because people were abusing them in some way. The saddest thing I saw was a kitten who was wobbly on his feet and had head twitches because kids had put him in a bag and were playing football with him, leaving him with brain damage.
All these cats get immediate vet treatment, fed and sheltered in a cat's paradise (trees to climb, crinkly tunnels and toys all over the place). She spends all her pension on them, and only spends £8 a week on food for herself! Also, all the cats were amazingly friendly. As soon as you sit down you'll have ten beasties trying to sit on you whilst another ten try and pounce over them to get at you. You'd never believe someone could keep SO MANY cats, especially abused ones, that people-loving.
So yes, she rocks. She said "I used to have three cats, one more than is considered 'normal' but one less than would make people think I'm weird. Now, I'm living alone on a mountain in a shack, what does that tell you?"
