Greetings! We brought two Bengal kittens into our household 2.5 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I do believe that the breeder allowed us to collect them a bit too early: Goliath was 7.5 weeks old, and Cleopatra was 6.5 weeks old.
I noticed immediately that Cleopatra had a difficult time walking on her two hind legs, and often wobbled.
A veterinarian gave both kittens a clean bill of health the following day, and told me that Cleopatra showed no signs of neurological damage; she seemed to think that Cleopatra would grow out of her unsteadiness.
Now, almost three weeks later, we are still very concerned about Cleopatra. Although her hind legs seem slightly steadier, her head often shakes from side to side (not unlike someone who has Parkinson's disease.)
We will see the vet again in a couple weeks, but if anyone has knowledge or experience with this kind of situation, please let me know.

Hi Paulina and welcome to our great forum. Congratulations on your babies. Yes, your breeder allowed your kittens to leave way too soon. Twelve weeks is the norm. Some kittens are not even completely weaned at 6.5 weeks. As for the issue with one of your kitties, it is very possible there are neurological issues with the kitty. I'm not sure your vet is qualified to do any testing, but there are vet specialists who do neurological tests.

Did your breeder give you a health guarantee? Have you spoken with your breeder about this? Did you visit the cattery before you got your kittens and did you see the kittens before getting them?

I'm sure you've become very attached to Cleopatra and it certainly is not her fault she has this problem. Please continue to consult with your vet and see if there may be a neurologist vet in your area who can explore this further. It could turn out to be very expensive and you'll need to decide if it is worth it to pursue it. I know you want Cleopatra to have as normal a cat life as possible.

Because it's not only her walking that is an issue, but her head shakes, proves there is something going on neurologically. A regular vet is no specialist in this regard. I strongly suggest that if she does not improve by the time she is 12 weeks old that you request a referral to a neurological vet specialist. The sooner you can diagnose and treat this, the better.
