Hi everyone!

This is a joint account between my girlfriend Alissa and I. Three days ago we went to pick up our first pet, an 8 week old bengal snow leopard. Instantly we fell in love with this little kitten, so much that we're going back to the same breeder this saturday to pick up his litter mate! This community seems awesome and we've been lurking here for a while preparing for his arrival - we're excited to be a part of it!

Very cute. I probably won’t be the only one to say 8 weeks is quite young. Mine was just shy of 11 and it was young too, typical age is about 13-14.

I would have loved to get a pair, but I don’t really have the space, so good choice getting 2 if you can.

Welcome. Wow, 8 weeks, yea, that's not good. 8 weeks is usually how early a shelter would release an abandoned kitten to an experienced cat owner, but for responsible breeders it's usually 12. I would really strongly suggest that you call the breeder back up and make arrangements for the second kitten to stay with his mom and littermates for another 4 weeks if possible. That will help in a lot of different ways (health, socialization etc). Just look at any reputable breeder's website and you'll see it's 12-13 weeks.

I also gotta say that I'm glad that my first cats weren't bengals. You are in for a challenge, as they are pretty challenging pets to own (and they would be even more challenging if taken at 8 weeks). Good luck, let us know if we can help

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your bengal babies. I'm sure we would all jump on you for taking a kitten at 8 weeks old. Once kittens are weaned from their mom, they are learning the other skills they need and mom helps with that. A good breeder will not allow the kittens to leave before 12 weeks. It is great you are going to take his brother -- he won't be as lonely and will be familiar with his littermate. His crying now is because he is not with you. Bengals are very social creatures and want to be with their humans. Hence, mine sleeps at my feet all night and is almost always laying in a chair next to me.

Hopefully, you've learned a lot about the bengal breed. They can be a challenge. Your little guy is gorgeous, but seems tiny -- even for 10 weeks. We do hope you will continue to post pictures in the Gallery section of the forum. We love watching the babies grow.

We are here to answer any questions you may have. Oh --- and I hate to tell you this, but bengals HAVE to be with you in the bathroom. It is their playground! LOL

Since you already have the kitty and he is bonding with you, I wouldn't be too concerned. As long as he is using the litter box properly, eating okay, socialized, loves to play ... I think you will be okay. His bother will be a tad older. You may see a considerable difference -- or you may not. But, knowing that you will LOVE these boys to death is almost good enough!

Your boys will romp and play, especially at 2 a.m. I went through that at 4 a.m. this morning with my two (only one is a bengal). No fun to be kept awake by two horses running through the house! Ha ha.
