Hi all!

I will be welcoming my first Bengal female kitty into my home in 4 days! She's beautiful and I can't wait to get to know her... we haven't decided on a name yet... I like Rose, or Rosie, for her perfect rosettes! Feel free to throw some Bengal ownership tips my way! I've owned a Persian before, but something tells me that owning a Bengal is a bit different!

What would you name her?? She's just about 4 months old in this photo.

She is beautiful and I think the name Rose is lovely, life will never be dull with a bengal she will keep you on your toes at all times.

I have 2 a brown spotted boy called Magic he is 5 and a seal lynx girl called Pearl aged 2 and they certainly keep me busy especially Pearl she is a crazy girl.

I would advise you to put away anything of value or that you don't want broken as they do have a habit of breaking things.

Also you should think about getting a cat tree as big as possible as they love to climb and lots of interactive toys because they are very high maintenance cats and love to play.

I hope you will enjoy having her and have lots of fun experiences together.

Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming arrival. She is beautiful. I usually suggest waiting a couple of days and observe her behavior and a name will just pop into your head that will stick!!! My one advice for bengal kittens is to bengal-proof your home. Get down on your hands and knees and crawl around and make sure there is nothing dangerous there. Some love to chew on wires. Others can get into the smallest of holes (like behind stereo or TV equipment). It's better to be safe than sorry. One member lost her bengal kitten and thought she had gotten outside when she heard meowing from behind her kitchen cabinets. Bengals will investigate EVERYTHING so put anything of value away -- not UP because bengals can jump. Make sure you have a tall cat tree, lots of wand toys and cat beds, although most cats will sleep where they want. You've had a Persian, so you know that. Enjoy the adventures. Know that you baby will be social and want to follow you around. Don't look for 8 hour naps. A couple of short cat naps and she is rearing to go again. Hopefully, you can get her to sleep through the night (my 10-year old bengals still does not do that).

Bengals are not like any other cat in the world. They are challenging, to say the least, and will be a perpetual two-year old, so be completely prepared. In the end. bengals are loving and sweet and she will give you some wonderful times.

I've had my girl now for 2 weeks and I'm so in love! She is so sweet and patient with my kids, then she will get all frisky and play her heart out, jumping higher in the air than I ever thought a kitten could! I know it's going to be great fun owning her. She's even been on her first road trip and slept on my lap quietly the whole drive. What a dream! Haha! Thanks everyone for all the advice on how to cat proof my house. Fortunately I don't have many shelves! We are in the process of getting her a giant 6' tall cat tree made so soon she will have that to play and sleep on... She usually sleeps under my daughter's bed but sometimes cuddles me all night, while also attacking our feet all night long... She does attack our feet and legs during her frisky times as well!

Oh and we decided to name her Xena Warrior Kitty, after Xena Warrior Princess. We just call her Xena of course lol.

What a great name for your kitty! I'm glad she has settled in so well. I don't encourage allowing a cat to sit on your lap in a moving vehicle. What if the car was in an accident? The cat would be flying through the air. What if the cat jumped out of your arms when getting out the car and runs away? A pet should always be safely contained while in a moving vehicle. I cannot tell you the number of Facebook posts I've seen of dogs AND cats who were lost when the car was in an accident and the victims had to worry about themselves more than their pet. I have yet to see one that was safely reunited with the owner. I know it is "sweet" to have the cat on your lap, but it is much safer to have the cat in a carrier and secured on the seat.
