Hello and nice to meet everybody!

I'm new to the Bengal breed but have been having a blast so far with my 5 month old female Selkies. I figured I would share a little about my new kitty..
I got her back in April when she was about 10 weeks old. I'm single and living alone so she is awesome to have around and keep me good company. She seems to sleep and stay pretty calm while I'm at work during the day, (no signs of her getting into anything while I'm gone), but as soon as I get home she runs down the steps to greet me, and from then on she is full of energy until I go to bed! She loves playing fetch with a particular toy, it never gets old to her! You throw it and she goes after it and brings it back for you! She also enjoys chasing reflections created by my wristwatch in the sun, and oddly she loves to play with plastic spoons that are still in the plastic wrapper, it's become a game to her to get the spoon out of the wrapper!

She's tested my patience on several occasions with jumping up on areas that I don't want her to go, but I've learned to deal with her repeated antics haha! Also double sided carpet tape has worked to keep her off those spots where she shouldn't be! She can really be like a child sometimes!

Overall she's been great and I'm really glad I chose to go with a Bengal. She was just spayed a few days ago and has been doing well after her surgery. I have a bunch of photos to share, hope you enjoy!

These are from 3 months old

Caught a picture of her kicking herself in the ear, she does this often when she gets wild!

She's beautiful, you will have many playful and challenging times with her over the years as a bengal never grows up.

Wow if she's pretty! Great to see she cuddles also... Expect hours of fun. If you haven't found anything broken or bengal-tampered with it's because she had hidden it well ;-)

Thanks for the replies everybody!

She seemed to cuddle more when the weather was a little cooler, now that summer is in full swing she hasn't cuddled for a long time.. I'm thinking it's just too hot now to share body heat together haha. I'll see what happens when summer ends & cooler temps come back.

One thing I forgot to mention was her occasional ankle biting episodes.. It's tolerable, but can hurt sometimes haha! So far I've found three baby teeth, so I'm hoping when she's done losing her baby teeth she will chill out with the ankle biting..

My bengal is much more affectionate in the winter time than in the summer time as well. Our house is usually still cool in the winter time and he prefers to snuggle on laps and sleep. Won't touch the laps any other time.

Ankle nips aren't good. I don't know if they will stop once the adult teeth come in. Hopefully, she will outgrow the biting.

Ankle nips are her playing with you.
Quasar does this when he can't get the dog to play with him. He will stalk my ankles, especially when I am sitting talking on the phone. I wonder if he thinks I am talking to him.
When he stalks my ankles, I try to divert him by playing with him or calling the dog in to play. I'm not sure the dog appreciates this, however.

If I can't divert him, he is incorrigible. I sometimes have to break the behavior by putting him in another room for a few minutes then having hubby let him out. If I let him out, he continues to stalk.

He never stalks hubby though.

Hello Everybody,
It's been a few months since I posted, so I figured I would update and share some pics.

Overall she Selkies is doing very well. She is 8 months old now and I can't believe how much she has grown. She weighs in at just under 10 lbs!
The cooler temps have started to come back in my area and sure enough, she has began sitting on my lap again to snuggle and nap! The entire summer went by without any lap sitting, but now she's all about it!

The ankle biting has seemed to have gotten better, but occasionally she still gets in one of her moods, and decides that my feet or arms are appealing to bite and scratch! I'm thinking it's just her being a kitten and she will hopefully grow out of it as she gets older. I have noticed that especially when she is being bad, and I have to shout at her "no" or interrupt her bad behavior, that's when she tries to retaliate and fight back!!

She is very welcoming to visitors, and so far has been willing to let my friends play with her and pet her without any problems. Although sometimes she will go run and hide when she hears somebody knocking at the door, but after realizing who is visiting she will come right out.

I set up a few boxes so she can get to the top of this cabinet in her litter room, She's liking it, but I can see she's getting a little heavy for the boxes, so I may end up putting a pole there with rope wrapped around it so she can climb right up.

This shot turned out a little out of focus, but I really like her stalking like appearance haha!

This is a very bad spot for her, she just doesn't realize it!! The pan is located above my wall mounted microwave mainly for display, which is the highest point in my kitchen, and she loves getting up there!

This is the toy that she loves playing fetch with, she has gone through 3 so far!Image

I'm sure you have all seen this pose before, showing her wild side. Unfortunatley I didn't capture her running sideways too, which normally come along with the poofy tail!!

She is growing up to be a lovely girl, she sounds like a typical bengal into everything, my 1 year old girl Pearl is into everything, my boy who is 4 now isn't quite as naughty as he used to be.

I have noticed the same with the weather, my 2 didn't sleep on the bed or even close to me all summer, now the weather is getting colder Magic is sleeping on the bed every night.

So your bengal adventure continues!!! She's behaving like a perfectly normal bengal kitten!!! She is growing like a weed and is so beautiful! You might want to invest in a cat tree to replace your boxes. She will love climbing up there and it will give her several places to lay down, plus the sisal posts make great scratching places, too. Thank you so much for the update.
