Hello from Ivan and I

Hi everyone! I am Stephanie from Chicago :biggrin:

I am soon to be the mom of my baby, Ivan. He is only 8 weeks old, so I have to wait a few more weeks before I can get him, but I am so excited! He will be my first Bengal, so I look forward to all the info on the forums! I have attached some of his pictures growing up so far. I almost cant wait!

Thank you Sherry! The breeder says he's silver smoke, personally I wasn't picky about color, I just think he's unique and beautiful! I'm looking forward to all the fun that bengals bring to your home :lol:

I ordered his cat tree today, have a good vet here, got a month worth of his food and everything. Just waiting on Ivan to get here! Is there anything I should have for him? Of course I'll think I have everything and I'll be missing something... Lol

I don't think there are many silver smoke bengals around! Ivan is so stunning!!!!! Make sure you get him microchipped. You don't want that little stunner escaping. I'm sure you've thought about everything to buy, but you will want to kitten proof your home. They can get into everything you can't see -- cables, especially! Get down on your hands and knees and scope out around your home. These little munchkins will find the craziest things to get into that you never knew existed in your home.

Wow what a stunning little baby he is.

I've just got two kittens and thought I had kitten proofed everywhere but forgot about the landing upstairs.

Found one of them happily 'dangling' between the spindles right at the top of the stairs. Didn't realise there was a gap which meant they could fall straight down from quite a height. I've blocked this off now but did give me a fright!

Also remember Christmas tree wires, lights etc. I never leave our kittens alone with the tree. They could easily bite through the wires or get tangled in them.

Our Christmas tree topic is buried somewhere, but the pictures are starting to appear of cats getting caught in the Christmas trees and one gal posted a picture of her tree less than 24 hours after she put it up -- laying flat on the floor. I'm guessing Ivan won't be coming home until right after Christmas, so maybe this year won't be problem. That gives Stephanie and entire year to prepare! LOL

Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful compliments and advice so far! I live in a ranch style house, so no stairs or basement, which will leave me with some peace of mind. And Ivan is coming home January 16th, as the breeder thought it best since hell be 12 weeks around the 1st, and it's busy around all the holidays. That way he doesn't get "lost in the mix". I couldn't agree more. I'm taking the first week of him being home off of work, so I'll be able to find things I may have over looked as far as kitten proofing is concerned. But in the law of life, there will be things he's going to find while I'm not home, so I'm spending this next month taking sherrys advice and looking on my hands and knees for things that he can get into. He will come here microchipped. His breeder does that when she sends him in for neutering. 41 days seems so far!!! I didn't realize that his coloring was so rare. I had first pick of his litter, he had a melanistic sister too, but I absolutely fell in love with him. :smile:

Stephanie, share as many pictures as you'd like. We love seeing the babies!!!! You have found a great breeder!!! Congratulations. The majority of bengal breeders are wonderful, but we have some horror stories on here. And it's great the breeder is microchipping him. Letting the Holidays pass before bringing him home is a wonderful idea and he should be extremely well socialized when you get him. It's great that you can take some time off while he acclimates to your home. You may want to limit his access to many rooms of the house -- you don't want to overwhelm the little guy! When you return to work, limit his access to a room or two with a litter box and food, cat tree and toys and bed. I'm sure he may sleep most of the time you're gone but will be ready to party and play once you arrive home! Consider yourself super lucky -- Ivan is a rare bengal!

Here are some new pics of Ivan I got today from his breeder! Exactly one month from yesterday until we get him!!! He's 11 weeks old in these. :biggrin:
